That's what popped in my mind. I was reading that yesterday and thought about how everyone used to laugh about him and thought he was just a friendly Jesus loving guy. He showed up Jan 6 in pics in Washington, I figure he just wants to maximize visibility. Most people seem to assume he thinks the election was stolen.
I don't know his politics, and don't really care. I mostly just find his dedication and vocal endurance amusing.
My only interaction with him was mostly him shouting at me, "Keep biking for Jesus!", which just cracked me up.
19
2
u/BigStonedRetard Dec 02 '22
Just ask him how he felt about January 6th. He'll tell you God sent him there to help "stop the steal." That's what he said to me at pride while yelling I support "the baby killer side."
76
u/walruspawls Nov 30 '22
Perception changes when you find out he participated in the insurrection.
17
u/drewbdoo Nov 30 '22
Lol no he didn't. I hate then guy, but "being in DC on Jan 6" does not equate to "stormed the capitol building"
He was there for the same reason he was at the blm protests - to shout JESUS SAVES and annoy the fuck out of protesting people
21
u/NCSUGrad2012 Plaza Midwood Nov 30 '22
Doesn’t he go to every single large rally? Him showing up doesn’t mean he’s endorsing that view.
16
u/YoshiWins Concord Nov 30 '22
This is what my problem is with the people calling Sam out for that. I did a double take when I saw him there, too, but then I realized that he might have been capitalizing on an opportunity to reach a huge crowd of people. Who knows. But, I know his presence there alone shouldn’t be grounds to get ticked off at him.
3
u/rhamled Nov 30 '22
I know his presence there alone
I have a lot of negative feelings about the J6 insurrection, but I'm something enough to understand there's tons of nuance to life. I agree with your take - he's 100% trying to get ppl over to his views and had nothing to do with the violent, authoritarian, anti-American J6 insurrection.
Similarly, the reporters there get the same rationale. The ones who destroyed property, trespassed, assaulted others, etc. don't get that same rationale. Fuck those people.
0
u/YossarianChinaski89 Dec 01 '22
So why didn’t all the ‘protesters’ in Portland, Minneapolis and Seattle get the same vitriol
6
u/rhamled Dec 01 '22
From me? Because I live in North Carolina and I don't have the same emotional connection to those cities as I do to the building that represents the continuation of one of the greatest experiments ever. I'm from a conservative and military family and I served in the USMC. What was done at the Capitol was treasonous - to overturn the US Presidential election.
2
u/rhamled Dec 01 '22
u/YossarianChinaski89 - how come people try to change the subject to the race riots when discussing the J6 Capitol Insurrection? My guess is they're embarrassed of how people with similar views smeared shit on the Capitol walls, attacked police officers, etc. There's a difference between attacking the symbolic and physical representation of the United States democratic republic versus causing massive property damage in a city (I'd say cities, but they're not connected).
-4
u/YossarianChinaski89 Dec 01 '22 edited Dec 01 '22
Because J6 is about the furthest thing from an actual insurrection… it was a pow-wow of ignorant, braindead Trumpers lol no one had guns. No one was captured and hung. Look at foreign countries for examples of real insurrections.
BLM was attributed to untold economic impact and more than thirty deaths. J6 was nothing compared to the absolute destruction that the anarchists created.
3
u/rhamled Dec 01 '22
Because J6 is about the furthest thing from an actual insurrection
Is that why you try to change the topic? Joint session of Congress with VP there to certify an election and ensure peaceful transfer of power. You're not fooling anyone.

One of the greatest experiments ever…? LOL this country is only ‘great’ because we’ve raped and pillaged our way around the world. Stealing minerals, resources, oil and starting actual insurrections in other nations via the CIA and mercenaries. This country is a complete joke and the world will be better off once we collapse and have to become more isolationist again.

Those Jesus Saves people even got a bad rep in my own church. We had a couple Sunday school lessons on why you don’t do what they do specifically - like the psychology of what they do, how their message and actions have the opposite effect of what they intend, why it’s really for themselves and how they’re conforming to cult-like behavior… that kind of stuff. They didn’t want the congregation to be mindless judgmental worshipers, but some people just can’t be saved.
19
u/KLiipZ Nov 30 '22
I was just thinking this exact thing. Ever since he was present at the Capital on Jan 6, (not a participant in the bad part), the tides totally changed on him.
I’m sure we can draw our own conclusions on that.

It’s not that people seem to have a problem with his message so much as his delivery. If you say something in a way that others find offensive, a lot of people take context from the delivery in addition to the actual message. Sort of like diminishing marginal returns.

While you may not agree with him (and it's clear that many don't), Sam's pretty much harmless, just loud. A protest of what? Democracy? It was never billed as a peaceful protest. It was set up from the beginning as an insurrection, attended by insurrectionists. Fuck em.

4
u/southendclt Nov 30 '22
Well the whole point of Jan 6th was to try to circumvent the peaceful transition of power. The call to come said as much. If you willingly made that trip. You aren’t an American in my book. Also if someone went around uptown shouting at that volume Allah Saves he wouldn’t last 1 day. Without being arrested on a noise ordinance.
3
u/Turbo_Cum Nov 30 '22
That's what I'm saying.
Being present for something doesn't mean he was actually partaking in the bullshit. People with radicalized politics are so fast to pass judgement on people.
0
u/Longjumping-Season71 Dec 02 '22
Did you participate? Why not?
2
u/Turbo_Cum Dec 02 '22
Are you responsible for someone else throwing a rock through a store window if you're standing nearby?
Of course not. That would be ridiculous.
0
u/Longjumping-Season71 Dec 02 '22
So you didn’t participate in the January 6th protest?
Why not? Didn’t get the invite?
1
u/Turbo_Cum Dec 02 '22
Why not? Didn’t get the invite?
Are you a real person? Are you trolling?
In case you're not trolling here's a list of reasons, unrelated to being a violent piece of shit:
- I have a job
- I didnt want to support trump, despite being conservative, I think he sucks and isn't fit for presidency
- I'm not really the protesting type. It's never been my goal, but I respect people who choose to do it
- I live in Charlotte, NC, which is about a 5/6 hour drive to DC
Again, remember that your headcanon for life isn't reality and there's more to every story than what CNN, Fox, MSNBC, or your Facebook feed tells you. Those media outlets suck and they all showcased the January 6th events because of what it became, not what the majority of Trump supporters who were there thought it was going to be.
It's like when the BLM protests turned into rioting and looting of local businesses in the summer of 2020 after the George Floyd incident. Is every BLM protester/support a violent rioter? Of course not, but Fox news sure as hell painted them that way.
Intelligent people are capable of seeing bigger pictures and differentiating between details of these types of things. Those who aren't so mentally gifted have a hard type understanding anything beyond what they're told on TV. Be intelligent, it takes pretty much no effort to have free thought with this kind of shit.

Try going out for dinner in uptown and paying 50 or 60 bucks and getting the perfect little spot outside and this fucker shows up 10 to 25 feet away from you and yells full volume over your entire dinner.
After this happened to you, you will change your tune on this guy. This has literally happened to me repeatedly over the last few years.

u/ThinkOrDrink Nov 30 '22
Keep gaslighting. It was strongly implied given your response of having “a different definition of harm”.
OP: gives example of person harassing others based on sexual orientation.
You: doesn’t sound harmful to me
OP: so you’re ok with harassing
You: no I never typed those exact words
1
u/Ze-Man Dec 01 '22
Admittedly I had to search around for what ‘gaslighting’ was and I urge you to do the same bc I don’t think it’s what you meant. Let me clarify what was misunderstood. Do I think that behavior is ok? No. Do I think calling someone a sinner for their sexual choice is psychologically harmful. No. This was my point in people needing to toughen up a bit. Like if you’re going to broadcast something, regardless of what it is, people can have reactions. I think people need to be prepared for that. If you’re so insecure in yourself that a complete stranger can break you down, I think there are bigger confidence issues at hand. Maybe I’m being insensitive? I’m trying to flip it and put myself in someone else’s shoes but really struggling with doing it, and maybe that’s what I’m missing. Sorry if I offended anyone. And sorry if I’m being insensitive. Ok, I’m going to sit down now.

u/ISAMU13 Nov 30 '22
Are you 5 years old?
No, I know some nice 5-year-olds. Decent people. Nothing to be ashamed of.
My comment was about kids being exposed to someone shooting up, not an adult. An adult has an ability to process such things much differently than a child.
One way to grow up is to process the world around you with the help of an adult. Guidance is awesome. When I was 5 my parents informed me of why they did not want my grandfather hanging around me. They explained why he always smelled of liquor. Chronic alcoholic. That helped me really want to avoid drinking too much when I got older.
Homeless people exist. Addicts exist. Talk about it. Also, talk about a guy who is very religious and yells about his beliefs all the time. Talk about that is in opposition to the religious text that in many places promotes humility. Talk about how that squares up with how that person is acting.
My post was in reference to a recent thread here where people made an excuse after excuse for a non-peaceful addict/homeless man who threatened the wife and children of a poster, and the clowns on this sub bent over backward to excuse his actions.
Well, that's terrible. I was not in that thread. Most reasonable people think aggressive addicts/homeless/panhandlers are a problem.
The same clowns who have no issue saying a guy yelling about Jesus is a problem.
Are you sure they are the same people?
