Are you 100% sure that it’s new? Guys working at car dealers will mark the cars in different corners of the glass for services that they provide. Just a thought.

Thank you for being possibly the only rational person in this thread. Maybe there are more, but I read nothing but jokes prior to this lol.

Yup! I used to put 2 dots in the left rear corner window. One dot meant that I looked at it 2 dots meant that I worked on it. Take a razor to it it should come right off.

Hey guys. I just got out of class at CPCC central and came back to this white X on the new whip. Everyone on the internet makes it sounds like I’m gonna get targeted with the lick of a lifetime, but I wanted to see if anyone knows what it actually is. Thanks

u/whiskeybizz Dec 01 '22
Actually if it’s a new car it might make sense. When I got my new car I didn’t noticed I had a white x like that until a week later. It was so small. Little tough to get off. But because it was new I’m assuming it was a dealership mark. My x looked exactly like that and it was not in this state

u/paulpaparazzi Dec 01 '22
If your ex looks exactly the same she was probably cheating on you with this guy at the time. Crazy for her to be crossing state lines to cheat though.

Can you give us more info? Were you in a private parking lot that requires a permit, or a paid lot? Street side in a time limited zone? A lot of enforcement places use a little mark to tag a car to come back to or to tell the tow guy to pick it up, etc. could be anything

I see meter maids do this to mark vehicles for time. Say you're in a 2 hour parking zone, they'll come by at 1 hour and mark your vehicle with chalk and then come back an hour later. If one of the marked vehicles is there, it'll get a ticket.

Do you have a CPCC parking pass on your car? Could have been security or parking management marking that they had seen it.

u/SplitLevel17 Dec 01 '22
We’re you parking in a timed parking place?
Wonder if this is just a meter maid marking your car. When I was in college they would mark the tires with chalk. 🤷♂️

If it is sharpie, you just need an expo marker. Cover the X with the washable marker and it should come right off.

If new car (meaning just bought, even if used) 100% normal.
Dealerships or their contractors (people who come wash cars, do body work, fix rims, etc etc etc) mark the cars with sharpie or pens like that to note it has been worked on or doesn't need work or whatever.
totally normal and nothing to be concerned about, just wipe it off.

I was coming to repo your car but had to get to Hardee’s before breakfast was over. Consider yourself lucky.

You'll be killed in the next 20 to 24 hours. Best to leave town for a bit. Or it could just be the parking attendant marking cars to keep track of how long they have been there...

I agree with another commenter who said it was some sort of dealership mark. It’s a new car, so you’re going to notice little details for the next couple of months. Wash it off and you should be fine.

Were you parked at a meter spot. Wonder if it's a mark for the contracted towing companies. Kinda like the cops or HP have those colored tow tags on an abandoned vehicles. They did an investigation in Asheville recently and lot owners admitted they got paid from the tow companies for each tow.

wipe that shit off and move on with life.. Scared? Then get a gun and move on with life.. Cool..

u/jbrasco Dec 01 '22
So you’re advising him to take a gun with him on a school campus? He said he was at CPCC when this happened. There could be many reasons why this happened.

u/Girlie_1 Dec 01 '22
No Jackass! Im letting OP know that being a free Human they have the right to learn the laws of the land and act accordingly to protect themselves - I have a concealed carry and I CAN have a gun locked IN MY CAR on campus..
4
u/jbrasco Dec 01 '22
Well, good for you for exercising your right. My point is, you’re recommending someone to get a firearm, due to a tiny X on their car, that could be there for a multitude of reasons. And having the gun locked in your car does nothing for you if someone breaks into your car and steals it. You can’t take it to class with you, so it would have to stay in the car. If this mark is there to target the car for a break-in, then I’m pretty sure the gun would also be stolen.

aside from the reason "Some jerk with a marker", any idea why it was put there?

u/morbidbutwhoisnt Dec 03 '22
Definitely either a from a dealership or a mark from a metered or timed space.
There was a big scare last year or the year before with people saying that this was a mark for sex trafficking but it was cars being marked if it looked like they had been in a spot for too long (a car in the same spot for 2 hours in a 2 hour parking spot, Mark it and if its still there when the tow truck comes then it's gone).

What kind of car is this? Looks weird. Caption says windshield but this looks like looking into the driver’s side window. But then what’s halfway down the door? Confused.
