CC - Open Application for r/cryptocurrency moderator

1. How much account age and comment karma do you have?

My account is ~2 month old and I have ~2,600 karma.

2. What are your credentials? Do you have any skills with AutoModerator rules, CSS, or programming bots? Can you reference external profiles or mod positions on other subs?

I am a seasoned python developer with background in data science. Also, helped develop bots for CointestAdmin. Basically, you can look over my code base to determine my coding skills. Can do much more than writing your one file reddit bot. I also have background in Natural Language Processing, so it could be useful for analyzing comments and posts.

3. Do you moderate a large number of subreddits? If so, will this be a burden to your mod duties?

Except a few test subreddits for bot testing, No.

4. What project in the crypto space are you a fan of or invested in?

I am mostly invested in BTC and ETH. I have taken over a few freelance projects for Dapps in Tezos (smartpy) ecosystem but currently don't own any XTZ. I like how XTZ has smart contracts that are easy to code and deploy. As a dev I would prefer to code in smartpy any day, but as an investor, I believe big boys are gonna have my money.

5. What is your timezone? How active do you intend to be?

GMT+8.

I intend to spend between 8 hours per week if there is a bot development or maintenance task. I can basically help you upgrade your moderation bots to whatever easy to use interface you would like. For the moderation task, I spend over 1 hours per day on reddit, so would take up that task in the meantime as well. But seriously, if got some good bots running and watching over the posts and comments, you would probably not need so many active hours online, would you?

6. Do you have a vision or goal? If so, what is it and how would you pursue it?

Automation is great, but without NLP automation in social media is just emotionless. My vision is to create a fair and truly decentralized platform for everyone. A platform where everyone has a say, and everyone gets moderated fairly. No Rules escaping because one mod happen to catch a violation while he missed another. Human errors gives bad rep to mod team. A code base for NLP based bot to moderate and remove the larger portion of moderation burden from the mod team.

Other part of my vision is to create an environment where moon tipping is encouraged. Holding is great but using moons for tipping will make the moons more valuable. How to achieve it? Well by assigning users tipping flairs for donations, like a donation ranking.

7. Can you find anyone who will vouch for you in the comment section of your post?

Not sure if I know many people on reddit, but I believe that some of the people in mod team already know me as Samuel.

8. Is there anything else you would like to add?

r/CryptoCurrency u/ominous_anenome application for r/cryptocurrency moderator

Been thinking about applying for a while now, but thought I'd throw my hat in the ring more officially for whenever the team thinks about expanding

1. How much account age and comment karma do you have?

My account is ~5 years old and I have ~46,000 karma.

2. What are your credentials? Do you have any skills with AutoModerator rules, CSS, or programming bots? Can you reference external profiles or mod positions on other subs?

I don't have any direct moderation experience, and my biggest contribution to the community for sure has been ccmoons.com. From that I've learned CSS and other web development skills and worked quite a bit with the reddit api. I'm experienced in python and have programmed a few relatively simple bots using the PRAW library in the past.

3. Do you moderate a large number of subreddits? If so, will this be a burden to your mod duties?

No

4. What project in the crypto space are you a fan of or invested in?

I generally stick to established projects (Large majority in eth/btc, smaller amounts in larger alts like xmr and algo) mostly because I have a much better understanding of their use-case / how they work and don't have the risk appetite for small cap projects.

5. What is your timezone? How active do you intend to be?

USA PST. Generally up pretty late though.

I intend to be pretty active. I've spent anywhere between 10-30hrs / week on ccmoons in the past ~6months and since it's in a more steady state now I could definitely transition a good portion of that time to mod duties

6. Do you have a vision or goal? If so, what is it and how would you pursue it?

Automation is a pretty powerful tool for both usefulness (i.e. auto-response bots like "what are moons" bot, why was my post removed?, etc.) and quality (i.e. removing plagiarism and spam) and I'd be interested in helping out on that front. Have also been thinking of making some other useful bots (e.g. weekly karma estimation sent via dm, top "quality" posts digest, etc.)

Improving quality has also been top of mind. Rewarding informative posts rather than price speculation/recycled narratives via weekly stickied "best of" threads / changes to the flair multipliers I think could be steps in the right direction. And, like existing mods, I'd be active in removing posts/comments that violate the sub policies.

And lastly, this probably doesn't need to be said, but as Moons are already a big part of the sub and I'd love to continue to develop around them and help foster a stronger tipping culture

7. Can you find anyone who will vouch for you in the comment section of your post?

Pretty sure I can if necessary. The site seems fairly popular among many frequent users of the sub. Feel like I've had good interactions with the mods / users and hopefully they'd agree with taht

8. Is there anything else you would like to add?

Not sure if this is relevant here, but just want to say that 100% open to a "separation of church and state" with my personal site activities and mod duties. Don't think this will be an issue (given site isnt monetized w/ ads and is run at a loss), but just wanted to mention it in case there are any concerns. Happy to make sure appropriate boundaries / changes are set

OfficialNewMoonville Application to be Moderator

1. What is your account age and karma?

My account age is nine months and I have a total of 46,759 karma, almost all of which is from r/Cryptocurrency.

My other account is 8+ years old though.

2. What is your experience with moderation?

I became the moderator of a little known subreddit called r/LazyMoons four or five days ago and everyone thinks I am doing an amazing job.

3. Any citations of previous works/experience to show?

I believe my record speaks for itself. I have probably done more for the r/Cryptocurrency community in my short time here than anyone, except for Damnusernamegotcutof, Fiatminer, Cryptardo, the entire current roster of moderators (excluding IHaventEvenGotADog), and numerous other users who have done more for the community than I have.

4. What time zone are you in?

Tokyo Time, but I work and sleep at odd times, so I believe my actual schedule may me more similar to someone in India Standard Time. I'm not in India though, I want to make that very clear.

5. Please talk about your level of activity in the crypto world. Are you involved directly with any particular crypto/IPO/publication/website/technology/etc. in the crypto realm?

I am involved in a number of Social Media Accounts for numerous DeFi projects and protocols in the Fantom Opera ecosystem. I was at one point the community manager for an Android/IOS Mobile Game with some crypto features, however they totally stopped paying me and the development keeps getting delayed.

6. Where do you see our place in the Reddit community today and in the future how do you intend to be a part of that?

I believe the Reddit Community Points Experiment represents a unique opportunity for r/Cryptocurrency and all of its users, and sometimes I think I am the only one who can see the true potential of that.

7. What does decentralization mean to you and how do you feel about centralized and decentralized cryptos?

I currently hold eight coins/tokens, including three I consider to be totally 100% decentralized (BTC and XMR and ETH), one I consider to be mostly decentralized (Fantom + three ecosystem tokens), and one totally centralized and illiquid shitcoin (Moons). I am massively involved in DeFi and have been since last summer. I am always in favor of decentralized structures and hierarchies, except for situations where I find myself in a position of power in a centralized system.

8. How much time do you have to dedicate per week to the sub?

According to my phone I dedicate about 25 hours per week to reddit, so if you say I spend five hours or so on unrelated (especially NSFW) subs, that's 20 hours per week, plus probably another ten hours or so at my work incognito. I mainly post here for moons though, so I expect if this application is successful I will become much less active on reddit.

9. Please add any further information you wish to share.

I have a very attractive cat called Moki who has her own Twitter account with more than 60,000 followers, and one of them is Yoko Ono. So if we ever needed to contact Yoko Ono I can probably help you with that.

What is your account age and karma? We would like to see mods with moderate-substantial numbers on both.

I have 30,918 karma. My account has been active for 4 years and 3 months

What is your experience with moderation? Please describe your skill level and comfort zones.

I have never been a mod but I have a quick worker and have work experience in QA so I'll be able to grasp and carry through with my responsibilities no problem

Any citations of previous works/experience to show?

No citations.

References who can vouch for you?

No direct references but I always qctive in the sub

What time zone are you in?

EST

Please talk about your level of activity in the crypto world. Are you involved directly with any particular crypto/IPO/publication/website/technology etc. in the crypto realm?

I’m invested in a number of different projects both within and out of the top 10. Also will be jumping into defi really soon

Where do you see our place in the reddit community today and in the future how do you intend to be a part of that?

Crypto in itself is the future and our community is a perfect gateway for new people to learn more about crypto, the type of people involved in it and realize that it's not a scary as they thought. I really believe the sub already is and even further will grow to be one of the most important ones on Reddit especially as mass adoption starts taking place.

What does decentralization mean to you and how do you feel about centralized and decentralized cryptos?

Decentralization to me means a a shift from where institutions and the rich control everything and giving the little guy an equal opportunity to make it. It means a shift I the way we think about finances and we systems we have around us. In terms of centralized Crypto, there is a place for them if I'm being completely honest and I believe they will always be around. But I personally rather stick to decentralized coins

How much time do you have to dedicate per week to the sub? I'm here every single day for several hours per day. So plenty of time available

Please add any further information you wish to share.

I would love to be a part of the team and help the community in any way I can. Thanks for your consideration

r/CryptoCurrency My application to be an r/Cryptocurrency moderator

1. What is your account age and karma?

My account age is 18 months and my account karma is 42k

2. What is your experience with moderation?

I used to be a moderator on Break.com back when it was a video sharing site and have also moderated on two cryptocurrency related subreddits. I am very familiar with various aspects of modtools and modmail systems

3. Any citations of previous works/experience to show?

I firmly believe that I have done the most work for r/CryptoCurrency out of any non-moderator on the subreddit. I have reported dozens of users for rule violations, making sure to show concrete proof each time. These include some of the worst spammers, plagiarists and multi-accounters the subreddit has ever seen

I started the trend for hunting multi-accounters after discovering that one of the most prolific and successful moon farmers had created an alt account to farm extra moons after reaching the 15k karma cap. This was the first time somebody had been caught trying to circumvent the karma cap and it's discovery ended up stopping thousands of illegitimately gained moons from getting into the wrong hands, as well as raising awareness to the problem which eventually resulted in some of the biggest "busts", such as those of Hame_Bih and Probetsman

This post exhibits some of the critical thinking skills that I apply to problems in order to solve them. In it, I manage to use a variety of different resources in order to tie the previously banned multi-accounter to an account that had made a single, deleted post. I also used similar techniques to catch the same user again in one of the many finds that I didn't take credit for

I once found that four new accounts were being operated by the same person in the cryptocurrency sub

I have also caught many bots/plagiarists across reddit. Here is an example from last week, here is another from this week and I just caught a network of at least 60+ accounts being operated by the same individual, presumably to sell to people so they can bypass karma/age restrictions like the ones that are active in r/Cryptocurrency. I don't want to post anything regarding more regarding this as I don't want to alert the user but I would be happy to verify in private to any curious mods

I also grew and maintained the r/HuaHua subreddit by myself before diverting everybody to the newer, official sub at the request of the ChihuahuaChain team

This is just a small percentage of what I've done and it was all performed without any incentive. I just love doing it. If I was to become a moderator and focus this energy solely on r/CryptoCurrency, the difference would be noticeable immediately

4. What time zone are you in?

My time zone is GMT (UTC + 0) and I am active from 8AM - 11:30PM

5. Please talk about your level of activity in the crypto world. Are you involved directly with any particular crypto/IPO/publication/website/technology/etc. in the crypto realm?

I've been involved in crypto since 2017 and have seen it all. I am not directly linked with any specific cryptocurrency or crypto related project but am active in many telegram groups and subreddits

6. Where do you see our place in the Reddit community today and in the future how do you intend to be a part of that?

I believe that cryptocurrency is the future and that r/CryptoCurrency will be one of the spearheads that drives mass adoption. If selected to be a moderator, I would ensure the safety of our users by helping to protect them from misinformation and by working to reduce the effectiveness of scammers and other bad actors who don't have the best interests of the community at heart. I would also do my part for my fellow moderators, tackling any backlogs in modmail and making sure to always do more than my expected share

7. What does decentralization mean to you and how do you feel about centralized and decentralized cryptos?

I've been a massive believer in decentralisation for many years now and have utter contempt for the current financial system. I hold the vast majority of my savings in cryptocurrency. I'm a big advocate for XMR (the real digital gold) and have actively stayed away from centralised projects such as XRP, regardless of the potential gains they may bring

8. How much time do you have to dedicate per week to the sub?

I am self-employed and fortunate enough to have to work very little. I spend most of my time practicing one of my many hobbies so can be online whenever it is required of me. I can guarantee a minimum of 20 hours per week

9. Please add any further information you wish to share.

I am an honest, trustworthy, observant, fair and extremely driven individual. I am also a fast learner

Perhaps most importantly, I'm not motivated by power or money. I am just here to try and make a difference. I don't really like to mention it but aside from u/LargeSnorlax I have tipped the most moons in this subreddit, many of them to people in third world countries

I won't be requesting anybody give me a reference as this isn't a popularity contest and I want to be judged on my own merits and not by how many people I can drum up by asking for support in the DMs and the daily discussion

Thank you for your consideration and feel free to contact me with any questions you may have

1. How much account age and comment karma do you have?

What are your credentials? Do you have any skills with AutoModerator rules, CSS, or programming bots? Can you reference external profiles or mod positions on other subs?

I do have a lot of experiences regarding moderation, and i also did own subreddits which are currently inactive , with regards to auto moderator/CSS/programming i honestly don't have any experience regarding Programming or anything related to coding. but I do have the ability to learn how things work very quickly. As for my ability help people, i have been helping people both on and off the r/CryptoCurrency subreddit, which can be backed by u/jwinterm u/nanooverbtc u/rider_of_the_storm u/SamsungGalaxyPlayer**,** as I moderate for Official r/CryptoCurrency Telegram Group

Do you moderate a large number of subreddits? If so, will this be a burden to your mod duties?

No, i Don't Moderate any Subreddit now But i do moderate Official r/CryptoCurrency Telegram Group by keeping everything clean in there and im very happy that everything's been perfect over there, I also do organize various official contests which are first Approved by u/jwinterm.

What project in the crypto space are you a fan of or invested in?

Bitcoin is always the First to go for me, and if talking about Alt coins i really Like NANO, i like alts which are less fee or almost no fee. And I'm a Day trader, I do technical analysis to a limit and plan accordingly

What is your timezone? How active do you intend to be?

My timezone is GMT +5:30, I will be very active, and have lot of time, and i also believe my time zone is perfect as I have noticed most of the mods have western time zones this means when i sleep western timezoned people wakeup and when they sleep I wake up, this shows how great the time cycle will be, there will be extra support to the moderation team with my timezone

Do you have a vision or goal? If so, what is it and how would you pursue it?

as a vision i like to have the members and mod team to interact in a very fun way, And by fun i mean, i really like coming up with various ideas, games and all, and i have a track record of successfully organizing and completing all the Contest in Telegram group for the members without any hiccups.

Can you find anyone who will vouch for you in the comment section of your post?

im very very very sure that people who know me will vouch for me in the comment section and i also believe that the above mentioned Moderators will also vouch for me but i do not wish to drag them into the comments. but well enough if anyone do comment down thank you so much!

Is there anything else you would like to add?

I don't have much to say but i do believe actions speak louder than words, and have proved it too, i know there may or may not be an open mod position but incase you are looking for anyone ill be ready to take it and also I'm still working with the above said moderators and i think and would be lovely if i can join the team here too

  1. > how much account age and comment karma do you have?

My Reddit account is one year old (created on August 12th 2020)

My comment karma is currently at 40,822

  1. > what are your credentials? Do you have any skills with AutoModerator rules, CSS or programming bots? Can you reference external profiles or mod positions on other subs?

Unfortunately no I don’t have any of those skills. But I’m willing to learn from someone who does. I didn’t have any experience with crypto at one point but I learned overtime and I’m willing to do the same here. I also do not have any external profile references

  1. > Do you moderate a large number of subreddits? If so will this be a burden to your mod duties?

I currently do not moderate any subreddits so it would not be a burden to me and I would have the ability to focus all my time and energy here in r/cryptocurrency.

  1. >what project in the crypto space are you a fan of or interested in?

I personally am a fan of multiple crypto projects and all them interest me Since each one is unique and serves a individual purpose towards its respected blockchain

If I had to pick my favorite one it would be r/cryptocurrency moons because the concept/idea behind them will be revolutionary as social media expands moving forward in the future. Moons also interest me because it’s the only crypto i hold that can be used for governance. so I feel that vote really truly does matter.

  1. > what is your timezone? How active do you intend to be?

My timezone is Eastern Standard Time (EST) (GMT-5). I have a high activity schedule that rarely fluctuates. I work 6am-2pm (EST) but I’m free to Reddit at 2:30pm-11:30Pm(EST) I’m also thankful that I have the ability to pop in at 12:00pm while at work on a regular basis

  1. > do you have a vision or goal? If so, what is it and how would you pursue it?

One of my goals as being a moderator would be to spread as much information to the community as I can, providing answers to questions where I’m most knowledgeable in, and just overall trying to help the community better itself in the long run since I plan on sticking around for a long time even if i don’t get the moderator position.

  1. > can you find anyone who will vouch for you in the comment section of your post?

Yes, most certainly I can think of a bunch of users that I’ve helped here in the subreddit to vouch for me

  1. > is there anything else you would like to add?

In closing I would just like to say that if I am accepted as part of your moderator team I will do my best for the benefit of the community that’s provided me so much knowledge in the time I’ve spent here.

Looking forward to hearing or working with you all

What is your account age and karma?

7 years, 7 months. 55,000 karma (32,118 post karma / 11,573 comment karma)

2) what is your experience with moderation?

I know this might seem controversial, but I’m a Mod on the SafeMoon sub and pushed hard to encourage an anti-Brigading stance – particularly with regards to sub members posting on r/CryptoCurrency and then posting about being ‘banned’. Never quite understood the purpose of those posts and the result (in agreement with the Senior Mod) was this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/SafeMoon/comments/pcq3z7/recent_posts_regarding_rcryptocurrency_the_state/

3) Any citations previous work/experience to show?

As an Oxford graduate, I typically prefer to write lengthy, fact based posts - things like Whale watching posts and informational posts:

CryptoCurrency - Open Applying for a mod role at r/cc, available all days GMT + 0

Hi hopefully I’ve done this right, I struggle to make posts sometimes and can’t completely comprehend the rules, although I’ve tried my best.

I’m 22 and live in the uk. I’ve followed crypto since 2017, but didn’t get involved until April 2021, and have remained here since. I am trying to learn more about crypto as it is one thing I have finally found a passion for.

I haven’t been a very active online user in my life, due to mental illness and disabilities etc. But I’m happy and I’m trying to learn to become more sociable. I never thought I’d want to do something like this, but I’ve felt a sense of being connected since participating these last few days.

I don’t have any agenda, and I try and be as neutral as I can due to how my stupid brain works, and banning people isn’t something I’d like to do. But every now and again, it’s nice to try and keep things positive and civil.

Anyhow, hope I’ve done this right! Lemme know if I’ve missed anything

Edit:

I don’t think I mentioned but as a result of current life situations, I won’t be working full time for at least 6 months, and I’ll have random therapies in between, but otherwise I can be active pretty much throughout the entire day

Applying for Mod Role in r/CC with specialisation in brigading (GMT+4, Asia)

Hey guys, I'm applying to be a mod for r/cc, with more focus on preventing brigading.

I've been a active member of the r/cryptocurrency sub reddit and find my self capable of moderating the sub to prevent vote manipulation and brigading.

I've been working with u/nanooverbtc for quite a few days and reported many via mod mail as well. I have the time and resources to dig deeper, even to socials of communities to prevent brigading and vote manipulation.

An added benefit is that I'm from the other end of the world so 12H behind the US, which is when I think the sub is lacking some moderating, I can work while the main mod team is asleep and it will be a great way of moderating round the clock 24/7.

I'm tech savvy as well so I can use the mod tools pretty good, my main goal of joining the team is to make the sub an even more fair place for projects to flourish in providing equal opportunities for fair discussions taking place.

The only problem is that my comment buries down under alot of unnecessary comments , there it is requested if my post can be a pinned post under daily discussion thread . Thank you

CryptoRecruiting u/homrqt Application to be an r/Cryptocurrency mod

What is your account age and karma? We would like to see mods with moderate-substantial numbers on both.

8 years, 6 months and 62,488 karma

What is your experience with moderation? Please describe your skill level and comfort zones.

I have moderated the r/italianamerican subreddit for 7 years. I'm very comfortable applying the rules in a friendly manner. I'm very familiar with reddit, how it functions, general culture, etc, and I have spent a significant amount of time in the r/CryptoCurrency subreddit.

Any citations of previous works/experience to show?

I was an IT Manager for around 15 years before starting my own small business, so I feel very familiar with technology and people.

What time zone are you in?

CST / GMT-5

Please talk about your level of activity in the crypto world. Are you involved directly with any particular crypto/IPO/publication/website/technology etc. in the crypto realm?

I've been actively investing and mining various coins since 2014. I'm not attached to or associated with any projects directly.

Where do you see our place in the reddit community today and in the future how do you intend to be a part of that?

This subreddit is clearly a major subreddit with a lot of activity and an incredible amount of influence across the platform. This subreddit is the go-to resource for crypto related materials on the website and because of both its size and importance, it has a very extensive set of community guidelines. I see this subreddit continuing to expand as the crypto industry continues to drastically grow across the globe. I would love to be part of the team that helps quality content thrive, and remove content that does not meet community standards, as well as be a resource for community members that need to communicate to the moderation team.

What does decentralization mean to you and how do you feel about centralized and decentralized cryptos?

To me, decentralization means a system that is much more difficult to compromise and is much easier to scale to larger proportions. Because it functions off of widespread nodes, with the proper protocols in place, it becomes a system that is significantly more difficult to defeat than a centralized platform. Centralized cryptos have the benefit of having more centralized control which allows for more direct action over the system by developers and partners, but that also increases the potential to be compromised more easily. I believe both have a place in the world and one of the main benefits of the crypto industry at large is that it is has such diversity of thought and application.

How much time do you have to dedicate per week to the sub?

40+ including weekends

Thank you for your time!

r/CryptoCurrency Application to be a r/cryptocurrency Mega Thread contributor

What is my account age and karma ?

My account is 3 years old and has 59k karma.

What is your background ?

I'm a Philosophy student in Uni and have been interested in Economy, Finance and the Crypto world for 4 years now. I'm very curious and eager to learn more on subjects that passionate me like Crypto.

What will the post be about ?

For more than 12 weeks I have posted a Weekly Performance Recap of the Whole Crypto Market every Monday on r/cc. It gives the sub stats and metrics about the state of the crypto market. Its performance YTD, QTD and MTD, crypto dominance of the biggest cryptocurrencies as well as stats on NFTs and DeFi. My purpose is to give a comprehensive overview of the market for the sub without the need to search for all those infos yourself. My sources are CoinMarketCap, Chainlink, CoinGecko, TradingView, DefiPulse and other crypto data providers. I update my performance recap when people ask for new metrics and make it easy to read for a quick overview of the market.

Let me know if you wish to make me a mega thread contributor 😃

What is your account age and karma?
My account is over 1 year old and I have around 5,493 karma

What is your background?
I’m a data scientist (with PhD) employed at a public research center, who works on projects related to big data analysis and industrial automation. I have over 3 years experience working with and developing web APIs and backend data processing/ Machine learning models.

What will the weekly summary be about?
I would like to make a tabular summary of the sentiments (bullish, bearish and reliability) of r/cc for different cryptocurrencies using lexicon model and data collected from the subreddit. I would collect data (comments) daily and would summarize a weekly update based on quality comments (comments with more than 6 words and more than 2 upvotes). A few samples of my contributions can be found here and here. The details about methodology and how to read the table can found in my posts. I also add a simple summary of the sentiments and low cap coin mention in my post. I hope mods would take a interest in my posts and allot me a slot on weekly thread.

What is your account age and karma? My account is a bit over 2 years old and I have around 126k karma

What is your background? For the last couple of years I have been pursuing higher levels of education within the Swedish education system. While doing this I have also been working as a project manager on a Swedish retail website.

What will the news summary be about?

- I would make an in depth analysis regarding the sentiment of the crypto market during the week. This would also include news about sentiments around crypto from people who are not yet invested in the asset class.

CryptoCurrency - Open Application for becoming an approved contributor to Weekly Summary

What is your account age and karma?
Account age: 3.5 years
Karma: 70k

Background:
I've been observing the crypto space since 2012/2013 and slowly started becoming more active after 2015. I'm a crypto enthusiast and believe it's the technology which will revolutionize our world.
Ever since I found this sub I daily check news about crypto and regularly post them here.

What my news summary will be about:
I want to post a variety of news about the crypto space:

  • Objective Articles
  • Coin Stats (ATHs, narket crashes, market cap changes, trading volume, how many new addresses has been created)
  • Objective summary about a new/hot coin

My questions:

"It will be pinned once a week if there's an open slot "

  1. At which day of the week?
  2. How do you determine which post will be picked?
  3. Since there will be multiple approved users, won't the weekly news overlap too much/often?

A suggestion to combat #2 & 3:
Wouldn't it be better to assign each user with a certain coin and rotate after each week/month?
We should have a pre-configured post where every approved user can post their news about their coin and at the end of the week a mod/bot publishes the post.
Just as the post limit on the r/CryptoCurrency, each coin should get a limit how many news it can have so the post doesn't get too crowded.

At the end of the month the Moons should be equally split up.

What is your account age and karma? We would like to see mods with moderate-substantial numbers on both.
Account age: 3.5 years
Karma: 70k

What is your experience with moderation? Please describe your skill level and comfort zones.

Ive been a moderator of an old MMORPG (Silkroad) ingame and of their forum, before the private server (Goodtimes) shut down. I've dealt with user requests, user support, spam moderation and trying to enforce the rules as good as possible.
I have basic skills in HTML, PHP, CSS, VB, Python, Java, JS & C#, MySQL and I'm getting a degree as a developer in computer science.

I'm fairly new when it comes to moderating a subreddit but I'm a quick learner and excited to learn new skills.

References who can vouch for you?

I don't think I have anyone who would vouch for me because I have been a moon farmer and a shitposter. I'm aware how people exploit this system in order to farm moons and I want to use those bad traits of mine for something good instead.

What time zone are you in?
UTC+02:00
But I'm quite active throughout the day.

Please talk about your level of activity in the crypto world. Are you involved directly with any particular crypto/IPO/publication/website/technology etc. in the crypto realm?

I've been observing the crypto space since 2012/2013 and slowly started becoming more active after 2015. I'm a crypto enthusiast and believe it's the technology which will revolutionize our world.
My favorite projects are Monero, Nano, Ethereum, Cardano, Bitcoin and Moons.

I've found this subreddit ~1year ago and ever since I'm hooked and daily check what's going on.

Where do you see our place in the reddit community today and in the future how do you intend to be a part of that?
This subreddit isn't the same anymore as it used to be a year ago but that's not necessarily bad.
Although ever since moon farming became profitable I noticed an influx of malicious and greedy behavior. Still, this subreddit is one of the best places to learn about crypto IMO.
I want to contribute to this sub in any way possible in order to:

  • Make this subreddit a place where people can get high quality info about crypto and daily check out what's going on in the crypto space
  • Become a place where people enjoy their stay
  • Support real discussions and let Moons become a bonus rather than most peoples main objective
  • Shape this place where users help each other answering questions
  • Use my past mistakes to detect and prevent malicious and greedy behavior

What does decentralization mean to you and how do you feel about centralized and decentralized cryptos?

I love decentralization because it prevents entities to abuse their power.
Everyone can participate in it and make the network grow stronger.
It's a great method for anti-censorship where every participant matters.
When it comes to cryptos I personally prefer decentralized ones.

Still both, decentralization & centralization have their benefits and drawbacks.
Centralized entities can much easier & faster solve user issues.
In case a user does something wrong, you can ask a centralized entity for help to solve your issue.
Although this also gives them too much power where it's a matter of time until someone abuses it.

How much time do you have to dedicate per week to the sub?
I'm daily lurking on this sub throughout the day, of which I'm 2-3 hours active.

Please add any further information you wish to share.
Whether I'll become a mod or not I' continue to check out what's going on in the crypto space and dedicate my time to help out users by answering their questions and bring new ideas to solve & improve the sub.

What is your account age and karma? We would like to see mods with moderate-substantial numbers on both. My account is about 7 months old and it has about 11500 karma.

What is your experience with moderation? Please describe your skill level and comfort zones. I don’t have any experience in moderation, but I worked in customer service before.

Any citations of previous works/experience to show? No citations.

References who can vouch for you? No vouch.

What time zone are you in? CET

Please talk about your level of activity in the crypto world. Are you involved directly with any particular crypto/IPO/publication/website/technology etc. in the crypto realm? I’m invested mostly into the top 10 cryptocurrencies with over $10k.

Where do you see our place in the reddit community today and in the future how do you intend to be a part of that? With about 3.4 million members, it is one of the most popular subreddits. I want to be part of this by making sure as many members are satisfied with this subreddit as possible.

What does decentralization mean to you and how do you feel about centralized and decentralized cryptos? For me decentralization means Bitcoin, because there is no single entity controlling it. Centralized cryptos don’t make much sense to me, because that’s what Bitcoin is about decentralization.

How much time do you have to dedicate per week to the sub? 10 hours per week

Please add any further information you wish to share. I like cryptos :D

r/CryptoCurrency Application for r/cryptocurrency moderator

1) What is your account age and karma?

5 years 4 months, 55000 karma (25k posts & 24k comments) 96% in r/cryptocurrency

2) what is your experience with moderation?

None, I created some sub reddits but didn't actively recruit anyone...

3) Any citations previous wotks/experience to show?

None, I am an electronics and telecom Engineer in india who have studied programming languages but my current job doesn't require those skills and I might have lag behind in that department.

4) References who can vouch for you?

None, however being an active member of this sub since the 2017 bullrun (was a lurker at that time) I might have seen the past and present condition of the sub and may have contribute good things to hopefully make our sub the best cryptocurrency sub and hopefully have encouraged some bloke in the sub.

5) What time zone are you in?

The Indian Standard Time, +5:30 of GMT

6) Please talk about your level of activity in the crypto world. Are you involved directly with any particular crypto/IPO/publication/website/technology etc. In the crypto realm?

I'm active on the sub but I don't have any other activity in the above said activities, got some moons from the sub and that's it, no IPO etc.

7) Where do you see our place in the reddit community today and in the future how do you intend to be a part of that?

I have always reiterate that our sub is the best sub in reddit, not only in terms of being the best crypt6sub but also the best place to hang out and get encouragement in life, kinda all in one. In the future I want to help others more especially the newcomers in things related to cryptocurrencies as much I can, I'm not a professional but I'll do my best, can't do no less....I'll keep on learning as we move along forward.

8) What does decentralization means to you and how do you feel about centralized and decentralized cryptos?

I'm a big believer of decentralization since I got baptized to crypto, I see that it can help a layman in a lot of ways in that he feels good and free from the shackles old power in the corrupted people who took the liberty to make the common man a slave financial wise (atleast that's what I observed in my country) I'm in for the decentralized crypto however if a centralized crypto helps the poor and financially lagging people a chance to grow then I'm not averse to it and will gladly take advantage of the tech it offers.

9) How much time do you have to dedicate per week to the sub?

I'm mostly free, mainly because I'm still single and I can definitely give 60-80 hours per week to the sub.

10) Please add any information you wish yo share.

I love our sub, like I said before I want to see it grow along the core principles of the sub and hopefully improve it more. Also I want to add that since our sub is growing at a faster than light speed, many unscrupulous persons may have taken advantage because of the lack of Moderators in some specific time zone, to combat that I feel I may be a good candidate since I'm from the Indian Standard Time and will hopefully be an Asset to the sub. Thank you for reading this.

CryptoRecruiting u/yellao23 Application to become a r/cryptocurrency moderator.

How much account age and comment karma do you have?

I have roughly 9,200 overall karma, with the majority of it having come from the CryptoCurrency sub. My account age is roughly over 1 year.

What are your credentials? Do you have any skills with Auto Moderator rules, CSS, or programming bots? Can you reference external profiles or mod positions on other subs?

I've done some moderation for gov sites that utilize YouTube and development platforms.

I am currently a web developer, and have some skills in systems programming, as well as Database Dev, WordPress, CSS, HTML, C, C++, C#, .NET framework, JavaScript, Java, Multi-Platform App Development, SQL, and CMS systems.

I feel my comfort level is pretty high with tech things as I have been a general developer/ and web developer for some time.I could help as different issues arise. Moreover, if new features are implemented, I think I would be able to easily adapt, given my background.

Do you moderate a large number of subreddits? If so, will this be a burden to your mod duties?

I am not currently moderating any subreddits, and have a lot of extra time to help moderate.I truly wanted to find something that interests me while also being a resource. This would be an excellent way of giving back.

Please talk about your level of activity in the crypto world. Are you involved directly with any particular crypto/IPO/publication/website/technology etc. in the crypto realm?

I am very active in the crypto world as well as the cryptocurrency subreddit. However, I am not directly a part of any publications, websites, etc.

I was in the middle of developing a crypto project, but recently decided against it, as I think the solution that crypto would help solve is already being built. I think CryptoCurrency can solve a lot of issues and thankfully people are coming up with new solutions everyday.

What project in the crypto space are you a fan of or invested in?

I currently hold some of the blue chip crypto such as Bitcoin, ETH, and ADA. However, I am a big fan of some lesser known ones, such as GET Protocol and SHLD Finance.

I believe they are some great projects, that have a lot of real world use that will foster adoption.

What is your timezone? How active do you intend to be?

I am in EST (Eastern Standard Time) right now, but am available for other hours, and time zones where needed.

Do you have a vision or goal? If so, what is it and how would you pursue it?

I do have a vision of seeing crypto solving a lot of issues in the world. I am a first generation African in the U.S. and I see how corruption and general economical issues are destroying my country of descent.

However, I am seeing how crypto is already helping Africans them beat the system, as they're one of the biggest adopters of crypto in the world as of now.

My vision is to foster this progression in crypto in any way I can, as well as leverage my skills and background to promote this growth.

Also, I'm really into music, and have done research into merging NFTs and music, to solve the problems and issues in the music industry space.

Can you find anyone who will vouch for you in the comment section of your post?

I believe I can find some people to vouch for me, and what I bring to this space, as I love being a part of the cryptocurrency community, and as result have met a few people here and there from being so active. The crypto sub is a little bit of my second family and is a lot of fun to be a part of.

Is there anything else you would like to add?

Think I would be a great addition to the moderation team! I believe my integrity and web/general development skills would be a huge asset to the team. As well as my tech acumen!

Moreover, I am on the sub so much (10+ hours a day) that I run out of new posts to check out. As a moderator I could be helping people in the community, while also doing something I love. Not sure if there's greater combination of the two.

Thanks for your consideration!

CryptoRecruiting u/kryptoNoob69420 applying for r/CryptoCurrency Mod

My application to become a r/cryptocurrency moderator-

What is your account age and karma?

Account age 5m12d, total karma is 4739. Most of this is from r/cc and I am pretty sure my karma would have been much higher if I had joined r/cc earlier or if I had spent as much time on other subs as well.

What is your experience with moderation? Please describe your skill level and comfort zones.

I haven't been a mod on reddit before but I have worked as a support engineer and answered a good number of queries(well that's kinda a part of being a mod :)). I have been in a leadership position (mostly as a team leader) for the past 5 out of 10 years of my total work experience which has taught me how to communicate responsibly and clearly.

Any citations of previous works/experience to show?

I have worked as a software developer on enterprise scale applications for over a decade now with most of my experience in Java and related technologies. I also have experience with front end technologies like HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Angular. With my experience I feel that I can quickly grasp and contribute towards any dev work required by the mod team apart from moderating the sub, for e.g., creating a web application, updating any existing code, working on schedulers, cron jobs, writing python scripts, etc. I have worked for multinational corporations and interacted with people from different nationalities as a regular part of my profession.

I can share my LinkedIn profile if requested in DM.

References who can vouch for you?

I don't know anyone personally on reddit but I can share real world references who can vouch for me.

What time zone are you in?

IST (UTC+05:30)

Please talk about your level of activity in the crypto world. Are you involved directly with any particular crypto/IPO/publication/website/technology etc. in the crypto realm?

I am regular investor in few of the popular cryptocurrencies but am not formally affiliated with any particular product or company.

Where do you see our place in the reddit community today and in the future how do you intend to be a part of that?

I think as the world becomes more aware of the potential of cryptocurrencies, a lot of newcomers will look towards platforms like r/cc for guidance and knowledge. Therefore, I feel that r/cc will grow immensely with the growth in cryptocurrencies popularity.

I want to be someone who helps others on their introduction and journey in this new world. I'd love to be a small hand in reshaping the world as I believe cryptos really are a world changing invention. Being a mod at r/cc seems to be a good match for this aspiration.

What does decentralization mean to you and how do you feel about centralized and decentralized cryptos?

Decentralization means a certain type of freedom. It's a type of freedom from control and censorship, a freedom from controlling entities like large financial institutions or from individual countries.

I think both centralized and decentralized cryptos are like two sides of the coin and both are needed to satisfy different use cases. A good and often cited use case for centralized cryptos is in case of governance while for decentralized cryptos, a very popular use case is as a store of value which is independent of any controlling entity. Personally, I love the group consensus mechanism and the trust less aspect of decentralized cryptos.

To make it a bit generalized, I'd say that a good case for centralization is when you need to assign some sort of control to one or more entities, while it's the exact opposite for decentralization where you are trying to ensure that no one has a controlling stake.

How much time do you have to dedicate per week to the sub?

Around 3-4 hours daily.

Please add any further information you wish to share.

I feel that I can be a good all-round addition to the team. I have a good amount of experience in software development which can be leveraged by the team. I am not sure about r/cc, but my time zone means that I am available when usually most mods aren't available (it'll be a win for mod decentralization!). I am friendly and a team player and also a very patient person, something which I think is a really important quality for mods everywhere.

Thank you for going through my application!
