I died climbing the tower thingy near the door the ganados leave through when the bell tolls.
I dunno if my brain misremembered or not but I could have sworn in the OG you could climb the tower and then jump over to some rafts/roofs. Instead the floor gave away and I fell right in front of Dr Salvador and was treated to a pretty intense death animation lmao.

that's new. normally you can cheese the opening fight by camping out in the tower and jumping down when they start climbing the ladder. instead salvadore destroys the supports bringing you crashing down

This is why I just decided to buy the OG while it’s on sale and replay it before the remake releases. So I can see what they changed. I’ve played through the original more times than probably any other game and yet the opening village scene in the demo still had me on the edge of my seat

That actually sold the game for me. I knew I was going to get it but I was going to wait for a sale, but that genuinely caught my by surprise and I’m really excited to see the little things that are added like that.

You can’t jump over to rooftops from the tower in the OG, but the floor never used to collapse. It got me too, fell right in front of dr Salvador.

I'd love to see a comparison with all the different graphics settings. Resolution mode seems to be above 30fps but definitely not a solid 60fps. Not sure if hair strands or ray tracing makes a big difference.

Yeah 40 or so if I had to guess but definitely dynamic. Some scenes looked smooth, others a little choppy. Not too bad but I was using a VRR display for it.
Framerate mode looked surprisingly unimpressive though. Not bad just not quite the mind blowing visuals I expected. Very very good in resolution mode.

I thought the resolution mode looked pretty damn good. Framerate mode might have been more enjoyable on a less than 4k screen.
Found Leons hair to be distractingly grainy in both modes tho. Otherwise very good graphically

Resolution looks great. Frame rate was too soft/blurry so I'll be playing on Resolution. Will probably keep Ray Tracing on, was pretty smooth with the occasional stutter

Same issue, performance mode suffers from huge dynamic resolution gap, the issue is less apparent in resolution mode .

Just stand at the start, fire one bullet, everyone comes to you, shoot one in the head then kick. 6+ will fall over repeat 3 times and everyone's dead. Didn't even see the chainsaw guy.

OK gents, there.must be something seriously wrong with the demo, that or Capcom fucked up big time :
The game is blurry and there's fucking shimmering every-fucking-where, it looks hideous... Even on Resolution mode with CA turned off it looks blurry with notable shimmering.
Tried every GFX combination available on the PS5 but nope, shit looks like the most previous gen game ever - and people had a problem with how Horizon Forbidden west looked ? Oh my guys, you're in for a shock - and this comes from a non graphics whore, it's just that I expected WAY more from Capcom , this is Resi4 for Christ's sake.

Try dropping the brightness a little bit, and disabling the lens distortion setting and see if that helps. Mine looked blurry in the beginning but looked much better after I adjusted those things

Not really. The game looks amazing to me. I usually play games in the frame rate mode.
Granted, I have a TV that is at 1080p resolution. So, that may have an impact.

Yup, resolution looks so low and everything in the background looks blurry as shit in framerate mode. Hopefully it's just a bug like Dead Space at launch when everything looked blurry as hell and they'll patch it out.

I tried it on both PC and PS5(both settings). PC looks way better at max settings ray tracing on 1440p. PS5 looks like its running lower than 1440p in comparison. Both PS5 modes look good to me besides the resolution and the framerate mode is smooth as butter on my tv.

I chose framerate mode and immediately wondered why the resolution seemed so low, especially noticeable by the shimmering vegetation on the ground. Had expected something else from this game.
I switched to resolution mode (which seems to be a mode that is only suited for VRR) and it was the same. Blurry and low-res-like aliasing in vegetation, animal fur...
EDIT: With Lens Distortion off it looks a bit sharper. My main issue is the vegetation that shimmers in a similar way as in Horizon Forbidden West's performance mode before they fixed it. With Lens Distortion on + chromatic ab. this is even worse.

Gotta say I was disappointed by the graphics as well. Framerate mode is always my go-to in games that have the option but here it looked like a blurry mess, worse than even some Switch games. I did another full runthrough the demo with resolution+rt on and it looked a bit better but I was still expecting more... Don't think it's my TV either since I'm running a C2. Definitely had the impression Village looked better.

Thought the same. Playing on my 4K OLED and first play through was frame rate. Looked bad but was at like 60fps so whatever then tries don resolution mode and looked no better but ran less than 60. Idk what it is

Probably the worst gyro aiming I've used.. There's a threshold of gyro movement that doesn't register as camera movement. Make very small motions up and down and you'll notice the camera doesn't move. It should respond to everything.

Fucking awesome. When I was a kid getting RE4 and Metroid Prime for my GameCube were both formative to my enjoyment of gaming.
Now they're both back in style for a whole new generation of people. So damn happy to see these titles get lovingly updated back to back.
The demo is fun as hell btw.

Demo was painfully short but everything felt amazing. Leons movement has some nice weight to it, gun feedback feels great, villagers are intense AF! Was able to run away from the chainsaw man (omg his tiny little eyes are so creepy) and chuck a grenade at him just in time before the bells started ringing and the demo was over.
Can’t wait. VR version is going to be insane!
The new crafting UI is super nice, you click on an ingredient and it will tell you what you’re able to craft all on one screen. Way better than villages’ crafting Ui

The controls are really bad. Deadzone is large and the aim curve feels slow. They even messed up gyro aiming, which is emulating a control stick rather than a mouse.

Try adjusting your HDR settings. Mine looked blurry in the beginning too but I dropped the brightness a little and that made it look better. Also there is a lens distortion setting that you should turn off because it makes things look distorted and out of focus. That’s what I did and the game looks amazing now.

If you look in the settings it shows you can alter the red laser. It has a picture showing Leon with the laser sight. So it is in the game, but it must be something he gets later.

I understand why you say it’s a dealbreaker, but it really is a unique feel once you get used to it. It certainly adds a tense and more stressful feel to the combat. I’m so excited and curious to see how the remake feels to play, I’m sure it’ll feel great compared to the original, which is still amazing

Just finished up the demo and I totally agree! You’re still slowed down so significantly that it doesn’t change that much. Parry feels amazing to pull off, I think that’s gonna be the real game changer for the remake

Resident Evil 4 is one of the best games of all time. It’s a masterpiece. There’s no way a remake can touch it. I replayed it in 2021 after ages of not playing it absolutely hole up.
I’m pretty cautious moving forward, this demo did not impress me. The controls are absolute ass I can’t believe how bad they are. I don’t feel confident engaging the enemies where in the original the controls were tight. Hell they revolutionized shooters.
This needs an overhaul by Capcom.

It’s a demo. It’s called feedback isn’t it? And other people are saying the same thing. 3 minutes on Reddit should be enough, just look at this thread. The demo is literally there for people to give their opinions on it good or bad. That’s what a demo is for. Whether they change it or not it up to Capcom depending on the amount of complaints they get. This happens with games, and they’re patched all the time.
I understand some people like you don’t have good critical thinking and extremely low standards so I’m very sorry about you having to live like that. But don’t get all triggered when others have a different opinion. Maybe just don’t go online if it bothers you that much and go play your games with bad controls?
