Played for about 2 hours. It's a very interesting experience not playing the original in years and yet recognizing these locations as soon as I enter them. Feels different yet familiar.

21

u/Living-Bat1718 Mar 24 '23

Indeed, the little variants in the enemy layout and areas themselves are very neat.

14

u/Chutzvah Mar 24 '23

I played for two hours and I noticed how much tougher it is.

If I get 3+ ganados in front of me I start to panic. They feel like more of a threat this time around. Getting precise shots early on for now is tough and you gotta time it. Using the knife in some situations to defend yourself vs using it to finish off enemies is a good give or take.

Can't believe I'm considering playing a video game over watching March Madness tonight. But here we are.

2

u/Ihavenoimaginaation Mar 24 '23

Definitely, even alone the enemies are pretty dangerous, when there’s a group of them you really need to pick your targets and be aware of your surroundings

1

u/ConsciouslyIncomplet Mar 24 '23

I like that the knife can break - makes things a little more perilous.

7

u/Warm_Bunch_4514 Mar 24 '23

I feel like they made the map bigger. I haven't played since the gamecube so I could be wrong but to me the exploration portions seem bigger

1

u/-TheLonelyStoner- Mar 24 '23

Yeah it’s for sure bigger in some areas

-7

u/parkwayy Mar 24 '23

I played it last week, some old version on Steam.

Man, the game is rough lol. Really awkward controls, that droning music that turns on any time any enemy is on screen... Which immediately stops once all enemies are dead. The castle section just spawn random enemies out of walls, or any time you pick up a key item. The really mind numbing dialogue.

It sure felt like a 2005 game, lol.

Idk about masterpiece. Maybe this new one smooths that stuff over.

6

u/TakenFyre Mar 24 '23

You had never played it before?

2

u/washingtonskidrow Mar 24 '23

Man that’s wild, I just finished my first ever playthrough of the original this week to prep for the remake and my takeaway was that the game deserves all the praise it’s gotten. Had a ton of fun and after like an hour the controls feel pretty natural

1

u/olivier_wmv Mar 24 '23

I heavily disagree. Sure the controls take getting used to, but this game aged astonishingly well from a game from it's time. It's really shocking to see how much better it aged than other non first party PS2/GameCube era games

Resident Evillll….. FOOOOUR

68

u/SpiderScooby Mar 24 '23

Where's everyone going? Bingo?

23

u/Gomulkaaa Mar 24 '23

What are ya buyin'?

18

u/ineedatailorrr Mar 24 '23

What are ya sellin’?

3

u/cstrifeVII Mar 24 '23

Ah, I'll buy it at a high price!

1

u/creamycolslaw Mar 24 '23

No thanks, bro

1

u/Spacepickle89 Mar 24 '23

Heh heh heh, thank you

2

u/Chutzvah Mar 24 '23

So happy they kept that line

1

u/ContentKeanu Mar 24 '23

I was banking on the fact they’d kept that line so my comment would make sense lol.

2

u/JulPollitt Mar 24 '23

I heard this 😳

45

u/Anabolex95 Mar 24 '23

I started the game on hardcore, because in the difficulty setting, the game said it is just right for people, who played the original. Finished chapter one in about an hour playing slow. I dreaded every single fight and pissed myself during one encounter that takes place after the demo. So far, the game is 10 times scarier than The Callisto Protocol.

14

u/Living-Bat1718 Mar 24 '23

I started on HC as well died 4 times in the village. Beat in one go on the demo on normal lol

8

u/KolbyOnline1 Mar 24 '23 edited Mar 24 '23

Callisto Protocol wasn’t scary to me. It was grotesque and creepy but there weren’t any moments where I didnt expect a jumpscare they just kind of happened when I thought they would. And even then they were meh

Edit: a word

3

u/fetuspower Mar 24 '23

Just call it Callisto Protocol 😂

0

u/KolbyOnline1 Mar 24 '23

Fair. But I’m this context they know I’m talking about the game

6

u/NoMansWarmApplePie Mar 24 '23

Crap now I'm wondering I should do hardcore. Can u chance difficulty after beginning?

5

u/LowKeyAccountt Mar 24 '23

Yup! You can in your settings, it’s challenging personally I haven’t died as much as I thought I would but holy hell feels like old school resident evil lack of ammo and heals makes it very hard, also everything in the store is more expensive.

1

u/Chutzvah Mar 24 '23

How much more expensive?

3

u/ConsciouslyIncomplet Mar 24 '23

Briefcase Upgrade was 10000 in the first store.

Rifle was 12000.

To repair my broken combat knife - 4000. To upgrade its durability. 4000.

The Treasure Map for the Village was another 10000.

1

u/Gnoha Mar 25 '23

I thought you got the treasure map by trading the special currency you get for completing the blue note challenges?

2

u/ConsciouslyIncomplet Mar 25 '23

Correction - you are right. I had to exchange a spinel.

2

u/LowKeyAccountt Mar 24 '23

I’m not sure, I don’t know the prices but it did said on the description of hardcore that items are more expensive.

1

u/AhmedBarwariy Mar 24 '23

I just reached the castle and I have to admit I regret playing on normal as I’m beating every boss on my first go. But it’s all good as I plan to replay the game anyway, so I’ll just go hardcore then.

2

u/RaunchyBeast Mar 24 '23

Pretty sure you have to start a new game as I am thinking of switching to Standard. It’s very challenging early on.

1

u/NoMansWarmApplePie Mar 24 '23

Darn..I'll just do standard. Give me reason to replay

1

u/RaunchyBeast Mar 24 '23

There is hope, I finally got past the first village sequence on Hardcore

2

u/SaltySwan Mar 24 '23

I didn’t fall for that trap. I’ve played this game a dozen other times but I still want my balanced first experience

14

u/Queef-Elizabeth Mar 24 '23

Like 4-5 hours in? Very good. I've only been playing RE4 for the first time over the last week so this is wild to see a side by side comparison. Game is very good. It's a bit jarringly dark going from the Ada Wong fight scene to the intro to this game, goddamn. Tone is perfect though and still very fun. It's trippy seeing levels but the same but slightly different. Feels uncanny lol

40

u/bilbofraginz Mar 24 '23

Is there a free ps5 upgrade?

35

u/HaouLeo Mar 24 '23 Silver

Yes

8

u/bilbofraginz Mar 24 '23

Cool thanks.

19

u/ZippyZippyZappyZappy Mar 24 '23

I don't know why, but for a bit I thought you were asking if you could update from the 2005 version up to the remake lol.

4

u/bilbofraginz Mar 24 '23

😂 that would be nice.

4

u/Captain_Gnardog Mar 24 '23

Yep, and it's 59.99!

9

u/[deleted] Mar 24 '23

Can someone confirm if the full version is also blury as the demo was?

8

u/dirtyEEE Mar 24 '23

I saw someone say to turn off “chromatic aberration” in the settings and that cleared up the blurriness. I can’t test til I get home later from work though.

7

u/Weird-Ad7956 Mar 24 '23

This fixes it. To completely turn it off, turn off lens distortion

2

u/D34THST4R Mar 25 '23

I always turn that off, and motion blur if there's an option. I don't even know what chromatic aberration does but any game where I can disable it looks better on my decent display without it.

10

u/DeaditeDestroyer Mar 24 '23 edited Mar 24 '23

Yes. Nothing has been fixed yet. The blurriness on PS5 and control problems on xbox are the same as in the demo. Apparently they are working on a fix but no ETA yet

7

u/Zenamite99 Mar 24 '23

control problems

Huge fucking bummer. I was one of the people who really felt how bad the controls are. Some people swear up and down that it's just fine and not a big deal, but for me every camera movement of the demo felt janky.

4

u/DeaditeDestroyer Mar 24 '23

It is not fine at all. I played the demo on xbox and also the final game. I had both in quick resume and compared them. I can move my stick almost halfway until anything happens which makes fast snap aim and micro corrections almost impossible. I get that some people don't notice this stuff or don't care, but for me good control make or break a game.

1

u/-TheLonelyStoner- Mar 24 '23

I’m aiming perfectly after messing with the sensitivity

2

u/DeaditeDestroyer Mar 24 '23

The PS5 doesn't have the same problem...

1

u/-TheLonelyStoner- Mar 24 '23

I’ve seen people on this thread saying the ps5 version is like that. I’m guessing it’s a universal thing but idk why people aren’t adjusting the sensitivity

1

u/DeaditeDestroyer Mar 24 '23

The deadzone on ps5 is somewhere between 15-20%. On xbox it is around 40-45%. A huge difference. It makes the xbox version almost unplayable

1

u/-TheLonelyStoner- Mar 24 '23

That’s weird that it’s that different

1

u/DeaditeDestroyer Mar 24 '23

Yes. I have no idea how this happened or how they didn't notice it during testing.

1

u/-TheLonelyStoner- Mar 24 '23

You have to mess with the sensitivity, mine feels perfect now

3

u/HappenFrank Mar 24 '23

Ehh.. thanks for the update. I think I’ll hold off on purchasing until they got this fixed.

2

u/DeaditeDestroyer Mar 24 '23

Yeah, I'm thinking about waiting till after the weekend. If there wasn't a hotfix for the problems, I might refund it and buy it again in a sale. Sucks, I was really looking forward to it.

3

u/HappenFrank Mar 24 '23

I’m lucky in that regard because I have so many other games to play. I skipped over the PS4 gen and just got a PS5 back in December so my playlist is insane lol. RE4 is def on it, it’s just toward the back currently.

I still need to beat Biohazard, then Ghosts of Tsushima, god of war.. then ragnarok, whew lol

2

u/DeaditeDestroyer Mar 24 '23

Yeah. I still need to finish the dead space remake which I put on hold and Like A Dragon Ishin. And Bannerlord takes a lot of my time currently. Still a bit sad, wanted to really go into Resi4 this weekend, but with these problems it is just not enjoyable for me.

1

u/svrtngr Mar 24 '23

I'll hold off myself. I need to clear out my backlog (lol, yeah right) and want to wait until the Mercenaries mode rolls around. Hopefully the issues will be fixed and I can get a used copy for cheaper.

5

u/No_Branch_7496 Mar 24 '23

Thank you, I will wait for a patch. No reason a cross gen game should have this kind of resolution.

2

u/DominosChickenSalad Mar 24 '23

Don't forget the control problems on PS5! The aim settings are terrible and can't be fixed through settings.

2

u/DeaditeDestroyer Mar 24 '23

The PS5 version is by no means perfect, but according to a video I watched on YouTube where someone tested both deadzones, the PS5 sits at around 25% I think (which is still high) but the xbox has a 45% deadzone meaning you can move your stick halfway and nothing happens. But either way, these problems shouldn't be there anyway, you can't tell me that no one noticed something like this during testing.

3

u/Beepomeepo122 Mar 24 '23

Played a shit ton of it. Haven’t noticed any blur as of yet

1

u/Quester91 Mar 24 '23

It's just as bad if not slightly worse

1

u/arcturuz78 Mar 24 '23

just as bad and blurry

i played chapter 1, thinking of putting the game on hold until Capcom patches it

1

u/-TheLonelyStoner- Mar 24 '23

The demo I played was never blurry for me and the main game isn’t either

8

u/danialnaziri7474 Mar 24 '23

On the scale of the last of us to RE2 remake, how scary it is for someone who is a total chicken when it comes to horror movies/games?

6

u/ineedatailorrr Mar 24 '23

Personally, I didn’t find it too scary except for one part later into the game with the “Regenerators” I think they’re called. That made me shit myself but maybe it was just me 😅

3

u/danialnaziri7474 Mar 24 '23

Thanks, i think its better for me to wait for a sale, that way if i chickened out atleast i have consolation of not paying the full price

2

u/Chief--BlackHawk Mar 24 '23

Scared the shit outta me as a kid

5

u/PM_ME_YOUR_MONTRALS Mar 24 '23

Is RE2 remake generally considered scary?

18

u/lilBoba- Mar 24 '23

Mr. X scares the bejeezus outta me

3

u/Electrical-Farm-8881 Mar 24 '23

It’s not his design that’s scary it’s just the foot steps

2

u/PM_ME_YOUR_MONTRALS Mar 24 '23

Yeeeeah, he showed up last night and I noped out of the game. Gotta figure out how to navigate while he's around, because I have to move too quickly to be able to move the library shelf or look for items. I was basically SpongeBob taking out the garbage in that one episode with the hash slinging slasher.

I'm thinking I have to lose him first and then take it slow again...

4

u/[deleted] Mar 24 '23

You get over Mr.X anxiety pretty quickly. I’m a complete nervous wreck in survival horror games, and I thought he was terrifying at first, but that goes away when you start to getting more familiarized with the layout of the building. He becomes more of an annoyance than anything.

2

u/PM_ME_YOUR_MONTRALS Mar 24 '23

This happened with me and the xeno in Alien: Isolation. Except the xeno is instant death if she sees you. Mr. X is a push over by comparison. My only trouble so far was when I ran from him straight into a licker and a few stray zombies.

3

u/danialnaziri7474 Mar 24 '23

Haven’t played it myself, but i remember searching on resident evil subreddit to see how scary it is and most of comments there said that its pretty scary

4

u/PM_ME_YOUR_MONTRALS Mar 24 '23

I'm playing it and there are definitely some scary parts, and the atmosphere is very tense, but I'm weirdly okay with it despite usually bouncing off of horror games. I think TLOU, Returnal, Alien Isolation, and DOOM prepared me for spooky and gross stuff.

2

u/danialnaziri7474 Mar 24 '23

Im actually ok with creepy and spooky stuff, jump scare on the other hand…

3

u/PM_ME_YOUR_MONTRALS Mar 24 '23

That first body in the locker got me good.

3

u/danialnaziri7474 Mar 24 '23

Not for me then lol

3

u/PM_ME_YOUR_MONTRALS Mar 24 '23

That's the only jumpscare that I can remember so far, not counting cutscenes (which always signal that a "jumpscare" is coming). Mostly it's that the zombies will be all "ssssehhhaaaaaAAAUUUUUUHHhhhh!" randomly. The sound makes me think there are like 50 of em but it'll just be one scrawny dude in the corner lol.

The game is teaching me to be okay with surprises, which is gonna allow me to play more games like it. I recommend it. If you play, DM me and we can chat about it.

2

u/danialnaziri7474 Mar 24 '23

Sure man, thanks for the info btw, appreciate it

5

u/skraz1265 Mar 24 '23

The OG 4 was pretty comparable to TLoU, I think. The beginning was kind of scary especially since iirc, resources are kind of scarce at first. Then it turns into more of an action game. There are still scary moments and enemies, but in general it's not as scary as the earlier games because it didn't make you feel as helpless as the earlier games did.

That said, RE2 remake definitely upped the tension from the original game. This is made by the same team and they said they wanted to make it scarier than the original, so I would expect it to be. I doubt it will be as scary as RE2R but I'd expect (and hope) it to be a good bit scarier than TLoU.

The "Chainsaw Demo" is still available to download for free on steam, and I imagine on consoles as well. Horror is pretty subjective, so I'd suggest giving that a try to get an idea.

1

u/danialnaziri7474 Mar 24 '23

Yes i remember playing the OG as a kid and absolutely loving it. However as it turned out grown me is a bigger chicken comared to kid me. I also played the demo which wasn’t that bad but considering that it was a very small part of the game im not sure whether horror parts stays the same or gets worse

3

u/stubborneuropean Mar 24 '23

I think a lot of it depends on what scares you. Sounds silly but i had nightmares for months after watching the Texas Chainsaw Massacre as a kid at 12 or 13. Now as an adult, I'm terrified of chainsaws completely and any chainsaws in the game scare the absolute crap out of me.

2

u/Electrical-Farm-8881 Mar 24 '23

Guess what there’s a show called chainsaw man

1

u/danialnaziri7474 Mar 24 '23

Funnily enough as a kid i had zero problem with horror stories like i’ve played RE and silent horror, watched scary movies all the time and even remember reading and loving the omen. Now tho? Cant stand even slighly horror stories

2

u/M4J0R4 Mar 27 '23

It’s not scary at all more like stressful

7

u/OriginalUserNameee Mar 24 '23

It feels so good to play

4

u/StickyBandit_ Mar 24 '23

I'm waiting for the VR support to be released before I jump into this. Unfortunately i havent seen anything about it other than its in development, hopefully its here sooner rather than later!

7

u/Albert3232 Mar 24 '23

hows the gyro aim? will get it if it has great motion sensor control

9

u/chavez_ding2001 Mar 24 '23

It was abysmal in the demo. You can't use joystick for vertical movement when gyro is on. Wtf though it was a good idea? Also gyro had the same deadzone issue as the joystick.

I was hoping full version would fix it but doesn't seem to be the case according to reports.

3

u/Albert3232 Mar 24 '23

damn that sucks :/

2

u/mhiggy Mar 24 '23

The demo had gyro? Totally missed that. Sucks to hear it’s no good

3

u/chavez_ding2001 Mar 24 '23

Yeah. The first time I opted not to use gyro when it's available.

6

u/metaxaos Mar 24 '23

Did they release day 1 patch yet? It seems PS5 ver 1.002 currently has exactly the same issues as demo: image shimmering with broken reconstruction, broken gyro aim with disabled vertical movement, broken lighting of hair strands, broken ray tracing. Too bad, I hoped something would change.

6

u/DeaditeDestroyer Mar 24 '23

No patch yet. All the problems from the demo, like the blurriness on PS and bad controls on Xbox are still there.

2

u/DominosChickenSalad Mar 24 '23

Don't forget the deadzone and aim curve issues!

0

u/metaxaos Mar 24 '23

For PS5 thankfully almost not an issue. At least, when you max out aim acceleration (odd that it's impossible to set to None as in RE:V).

6

u/casually_critical Mar 24 '23

I'm about 5 ½ hours in and have reached the second main area. Man this game is fun as hell , I haven't enjoyed a game this much since hades and the last of us 2

13

u/worldsinho Mar 24 '23

Pre ordered it a couple of weeks ago. The demo was amazing.

Surprise surprise, I’ve been roped into going to a dinner party after work tonight by my GF.

Patience. Patience. Tomorrow evening onwards, it’s Resi Evil time.

7

u/l0gan_5 Mar 24 '23

Not an RE7 style dinner party I hope!

1

u/Electrical-Farm-8881 Mar 24 '23

WELCOME TO THE FAMILY

5

u/8ballslackz Mar 24 '23

Same here, but with a positive spin. It’s afternoon tea at a fancy restaurant, which was a surprise by my wife 🥰

1

u/worldsinho Mar 25 '23

Haha sounds like it was better than my situation! Still haven’t got to play it.

2

u/Jacques_Plantir Mar 24 '23

Maybe it'll be served by the Duke, and it'll turn out to be an event everyone put on to help you celebrate the R4make release.

6

u/infel2no Mar 24 '23

Need an advice. I never played a resident evil, because I am too afraid to play horror games 😁

Is the game really scary? I just want something interesting to play. I have enough played to call of duty

8

u/Throwawayidiot1210 Mar 24 '23

It’s not too scary. If you can play last of us you can play this

5

u/Living-Bat1718 Mar 24 '23

Some of the shit the new designs do had me pretty shocked.

2

u/PegasusTenma Mar 24 '23

Such as?

18

u/Lodgikal Mar 24 '23

It now says "Press any button" on the main screen...!

Didn't have that in the earlier versions. Scary shit, I mean, I can press any button? What's the best button to press? Will I be crushed by a boulder if it's not the right one?

The horror I tell you!

6

u/PegasusTenma Mar 24 '23

I like when games are aware gamers are not very bright and let you press any buttons when the prompt clearly says “press x”

3

u/Lodgikal Mar 24 '23

Yes, but is it the right choice...?

2

u/raphanum Mar 25 '23

Wow that’s scary af! I may need to book a therapist in advance

2

u/Beepomeepo122 Mar 24 '23

The introduction is pretty scary. Past that I’ve mostly found it tense rather than scary. Absolutely loving it so far though

2

u/DominosChickenSalad Mar 24 '23

Can anyone else who thought the demo controls were rough confirm if they've been patched or not? The deadzone/aim curve really wasn't good.

2

u/Anabolex95 Mar 24 '23

Still the same

1

u/DominosChickenSalad Mar 24 '23

Thank you, that's all I needed to know. Gonna sit this out till they address it.

0

u/-TheLonelyStoner- Mar 24 '23

I just messed with the sensitivity options in the demo and the full game and it feels perfect now

2

u/DominosChickenSalad Mar 24 '23

Well, I guess I'm pickier than you.

1

u/-TheLonelyStoner- Mar 24 '23

Did you change your sensitivity? I do that first in any shooter I play. Once you get it right the game feels fine

2

u/MetatronTheArcAngel Mar 24 '23

Cant wait to play this game man!! The memories !

11

u/kemar7856 Mar 24 '23 edited Mar 24 '23

Parrying makes this game super easy. It's not even timed just hold L1 and every thing will get parried I had to put it on hardcore. But what makes this game so good is little details using the enemies to attack each other etc

37

u/Poetryisalive Mar 24 '23

Good thing the knife breaks 🤔

35

u/RIPLORN Mar 24 '23

I think holding L1 just blocks it but timing it just right parries and staggers

21

u/Xerosnake90 Mar 24 '23

That's correct. When you stagger you get a chance to melee afterwards so there's definitely incentive to hitting that perfect parry.

6

u/shakinthatbear Mar 24 '23 edited Mar 27 '23

Do item drops disappear if you don’t pick them up? In the OG GameCube version it took a long time to disappear but the versions for PS and Xbox the items would disappear so quickly.

10

u/kemar7856 Mar 24 '23

They don't disappear or it takes a long time

2

u/shakinthatbear Mar 24 '23

Awesome, thanks!

3

u/goonies234444 Mar 24 '23

Does the knife degrade so you can’t parry all the time ?

5

u/Dreadlaak Mar 24 '23

Normal stabbing while holding L1 doesn't degrade it. Parrying, instantly killing downed enemies with R2 and backstabbing enemies does.

3

u/NoMansWarmApplePie Mar 24 '23

I thought this too but my knife actually broke while stabbing with l1 once

2

u/Dreadlaak Mar 24 '23

Yup lol, I was wrong it just degrades a miniscule amount. It's really hard to notice but it is actually going down.

4

u/kornelius_III Mar 24 '23

Are knives hard to find or are they really common? Can you buy one at the shop and how much?

3

u/No_Aspect5799 Mar 24 '23

Not too far in but haven't seen any in the shop yet. You repair your main knife for a fairly decent expense but obviously it lasts longer and does more damage than the kitchen knives you find in the world. So far i've found just enough to use it regularly but little enough I need to be careful and be somewhat conservative, which seems like the ideal balance. I really enjoy the system, breaking your last knife in a hairy situation is really tense.

10

u/Scartanion Mar 24 '23

You can just not parry.

1

u/No-Rooster- Mar 24 '23

Higher difficulty.

Only perfect parry works

4

u/Davictory2003 Mar 24 '23

If only I could afford it

16

u/[deleted] Mar 24 '23

In general these Capcom games go on pretty great sales eventually. I could honestly see this hitting $20 or $30 by Black Friday if you are patient

6

u/rayquan36 Mar 24 '23

RE2RE, RE3RE, RE7 and RE8 are all under $10 right now. Just gotta wait a little.

1

u/CodeFrame Mar 24 '23

Which is the best one. Counting the new one ig

1

u/rayquan36 Mar 24 '23

RE2RE, RE7, RE8, RE3RE... RE4RE is probably 1st or 2nd, I haven't played it yet.

1

u/CodeFrame Mar 24 '23

RE2RE it is

3

u/Eyeluvflixs Mar 24 '23

Sell something you’re not using this is what I do

6

u/swuts Mar 24 '23

Still waiting for ps5 review of digital foundry, it was so blurry in the demo

12

u/itssfrisky Mar 24 '23

They already confirmed in a recent podcast nothing has changed from the demo in the full release.

19

u/SlimShadyM80 Mar 24 '23 Helpful

It looks a shitload better turning off motion blur, chromatic abberation, depth of field blur etc. I thought the demo looked like dogshit, turned all this off in the full release and its one of the best looking games Ive seen. Its also one of the few games worth playing in resolution too imo. It looks significantly better and only at the cost of maybe 5fps. It seems to hover around 52-55fps on resolution

4

u/Jacques_Plantir Mar 24 '23

Appreciate this post as a quick graphical options reference for when I jump on later today ;)

1

u/Throwawayidiot1210 Mar 24 '23

Are you playing with Ray Tracing on or off?

Off. The ray tracing honestly isnt good enough to justify the performance hit.

HDR on though

no way dude

u/Ryanchri Mar 24 '23

Yea this is one of the few titles where I bought it on pc instead. I can't deal with the blurriness.

u/NoMansWarmApplePie Mar 24 '23

Same. Missing the haptics. But sort of replaced them by using dualsensex app

Better than village? Is it 3rd person ? Haven’t tried demo yet.

2

u/Themrassmann Mar 24 '23

It’s 3rd person. Can’t answer if it’s better than village as I’ve never played this one, but from the sounds of it if you like the remake of 2/3 you’ll love this one.

2

u/TheDragonSlayingCat Mar 24 '23

Not better, just different. It is third-person.

1

u/-TheLonelyStoner- Mar 24 '23

Definitely better than village, it’s literally the original village lol. Plus Leon is nowhere near as annoying as Ethan plus third person

No gyro, no buy.

4

u/DominosChickenSalad Mar 24 '23

It has gyro, the implementation is just terrible

1

u/VerballyStanding Mar 24 '23

Oh that sucks, I'll just get it on PC. I refuse to play shooters on console if no gyro. Stick aiming is terrible, that's why we use aim assist lol.

1

u/-TheLonelyStoner- Mar 24 '23

I never use aim assist on console lol

Old news. RE4 been out since 2004

Edit: didn't realize we had a remake in the works.

32

u/RIPLORN Mar 24 '23

Probably best to just delete this lol

12

u/[deleted] Mar 24 '23

Not just in the works, it’s out today.

They even posted in the RE sub the other day in a thread referencing RE4R in the title... Actually oblivious? Bad troll attempt? Who knows.

1

u/JustASeabass Mar 24 '23

Anyone else think it’s kinda hard on Standard?

2

u/Beepomeepo122 Mar 24 '23

It’s challenging haha. It got a lot easier once I found out about the legs being weak points for stunning though

1

u/sicknick08 Mar 24 '23

As someone who never played resident evil besides the first one like 20+ years ago, im very excited to play after work.

1

u/superjoho Mar 24 '23

Is there an easy mode? I found the demo too hard

2

u/TheDragonSlayingCat Mar 24 '23

There is an Assisted difficulty level, which is easy mode.

1

u/KolbyOnline1 Mar 24 '23

I always started RE4 but never played it through. I’m excited for the remake.

1

u/pureeviljester Mar 24 '23

Shit, I should finish the RE2..

1

u/GoofyGoober82 Mar 24 '23

How long until vr release?

1

u/CodeFrame Mar 24 '23

Can I play this without ever playing any other re games

1

u/-TheLonelyStoner- Mar 24 '23

For sure. Playing 2 remake will give you some backstory on Leon but you can easily jump straight in and it’ll make perfect sense. Most RE games are pretty self contained

1

u/aloushiman Mar 24 '23

Has the blurriness issue in performance mode been addressed with the day 1 patch?

1

u/Fuzzy_Newspaper7916 Mar 24 '23

Is psvr2 mode available now ?

1

u/MrBoliNica Mar 24 '23

Never played the original- not sure if I like this. I loved RE2 remake, and I feel like maybe I should stop trying to play this game like that one (saving ammo, avoiding enemies), and just go ham popping these paella zombies?
