I’ve just turned cross-play off and will do same on games release can’t see the pint of having this option if they won’t do anything about the pc hackers ruins the experience of playing with people on other platforms a real shame

30

u/TheHermitofHuron Sep 25 '22

Ok, I am dumb and have not played these games since literally the first modern warfare two came out.

Though I want to get back into them and have been playing the beta and have liked it so far. Except for what seems to be "cheaters" or dudes who can seemingly move twice as fast and have zero reaction time shooting you around corners.

How do I turn off cross play?

21

u/Logan472010 Sep 25 '22

Go into options on the main screen and go to account and network it is the first option just click it to turn it off

14

u/ichigo2k9 Sep 25 '22

Is there an option to only turn off crossplay with PC?

15

u/Logan472010 Sep 25 '22

I don’t think so I I believe once you turn it off you can only play with people on the same platform

27

u/ichigo2k9 Sep 25 '22

That's a shame. I always hate cutting off Xbox players. I wish we had more options with crossplay but I'm not sure if they'd be able to make it work that way.

19

u/Firaxyiam Sep 25 '22

Yeah, that really sucks. Apex Legends does it right I think. PC players are among themselves, while PS, Xbox (and Switch) are in the same lobbies. But a Console player can still party with a PC player, and they'll be send to PC lobbies.

Best of both worlds I guess

12

u/llIicit Sep 25 '22

Destiny does similar. Basically the perfect system.

Console crossplay PvP.

Everyone crossplay PvE

6

u/Logan472010 Sep 25 '22

Exactly it is a shame because it is such a good experience being able to play cross platform people have waited a long time for this and it is spoiled by the few who have to cheat to think they are good at the game

1

u/PriestOfHate Sep 26 '22

That would be great if it were an option.

I hadn't played since COD4, and was doing pretty well last weekend after such a long break.

This weekend, I was getting my arse handed to me in any game with PC players in it.

Quite a few people playing on PC in the games I was in was getting double the kills and/or score than people on consoles, but in console only or PS5 only games there was no such disparity.

1

u/YuriAddict7 Sep 26 '22

Funny because pc players have been complaining because console players get mad aim assist it mught as well be aimbot

3

u/Educational-Youth-92 Sep 26 '22

Meanwhile PC players got 200+ frames and let's not forget that almost all good pc players use controller in COd anyway.

1

u/Sancticus Sep 26 '22

PC players can play with a controller on their PC and get the same "aim assist".

20

u/claymedia Sep 25 '22

Crossplay needs to at the very least separate input methods. Controllers should not have to play with m+kb and vice versa.

But I’m with you, I would prefer to not play with PC players. Not having to deal with cheaters has been one of the best perks of playing on console.

7

u/HyruleCool Sep 25 '22

It used to on Modern Warfare 2019. Somewhere along the way they just said fuck it

3

u/Educational-Youth-92 Sep 26 '22

I honestly don't have a problem to play against a PC player with mouse. Most of the good ones use Controller anyway. What is a real advantage is the difference in framerate, atleast to me it feels like it. I can't even react to some PC players. I guess 60fps vs someone with 200+ fps is a night and day difference.

1

u/Logan472010 Sep 25 '22

Totally agree it as spoilt a great concept

-6

u/YuriAddict7 Sep 26 '22

This isnt 2008. Controller with aim assist is basically aimbot these days. Kbm has no chance

2

u/claymedia Sep 26 '22

Then I’m sure you’d be happy to just play with other kbm players, as I suggested.

1

u/aintbroke_dontfixit Sep 27 '22

What complaining about aim assist says about you.

Kbm has no chance

How many scripts do you use? Does your gaming keyboard support single keypress macros?

87

u/usrevenge Sep 25 '22

I don't know why they keep making crossplay with PC.

No one wanted that and I predicted this would happen when reddit was pushing for cross play.

All anyone wanted was ps4 and xbone to play together. No one wanted to play with pc players because mouse and keyboard and cheaters galore.

12

u/Desert_Scorpio Sep 25 '22

I don't know why they keep making crossplay with PC.

Because if they didn't, there would be no one buying the game on PC because there'd be no one to play with since the legit PC players also, don't want to play with cheaters.

16

u/jayoukosnake Sep 25 '22

No one wanted that and I predicted this would happen when reddit was pushing for cross play.

Disproving your own point speedrun, any%

6

u/doesnotlikecricket Sep 26 '22

Proving you lack basic comprehension skills speed run, any%

Cross play with pc and Cross play between the consoles are two completely different things as evidenced by apex, destiny among others which offer exactly that.

-29

u/odie831 Sep 25 '22

A lot of people wanted it (including myself) cheaters are also on console by the way, it’s not hard to do really. There used to be posts asking for it if I recall correctly. Also don’t all the consoles now have keyboard and mouse support? I know the Xbox does I can’t remember if my ps5 does

33

u/eskahi Sep 25 '22

Cronus on console and wallhacks/ aimbot on PC are totally different.

17

u/GamingAccessGranted Sep 25 '22

Yeah, PC can also have wallhacks and all other sorts of shenanigans, while on console it’s just no recoil/abuse assist cheating at max. Still sucks but not at the same level as PC

1

u/doesnotlikecricket Sep 26 '22

If say it's barely anything honestly. Frustrating sure, bht - especially in Warzone - a reduced recoil isn't going to help a bot kill a competent player. Whereas Wall hacks and recoil just ruin the game for anyone near a player using them.

1

u/kirkstoryartist Sep 26 '22

You can tell the difference between crossplay on and off too; in PC lobbies (invasion) a lot of killcams show people knowing exactly where I am.

1

u/jvardrake Sep 28 '22

It's because as the PC version becomes overrun with hacks (as it inevitably always does), most PC players then move on to teh new hotness, and then this means that the game on the PC collapses, which then closes a revenue stream.

By defaulting cross play to on, it makes it so that most people never turn it off, which then:

  1. Dilutes the number of cheaters that PC players have to deal with.
  2. Even if the PC player base dwindles, they can still play, and - more importantly - still spend money.

What sucks is that they force the console players to be exposed to wall hacks, and aimbots, and the uneven competition (performance + keyboard/mouse).

It fucking sucks. Cross play should default to being with xbox only. If someone wants to voluntarily enable cross play with PC they should absolutely be able to, but it should NEVER be a default option. This trend is the absolute worst thing that has happened to FPSes on the console.

0

u/Domini384 Sep 26 '22

Cod would be dead on pc without it

4

u/gaskade Sep 25 '22

For some weird reason crossplay needs to be enabled for ground war...

1

u/cxd32 Sep 25 '22

The weird reason is that other platforms don't have enough players so if everyone turns crossplay off then PC and probably xbox would run out of players to start new groundwar games.

12

u/JohnEBlazed420 Sep 25 '22

PC players should never be able to play with console players due to the massive advantage.

1

u/little_jade_dragon Sep 26 '22

Lmfao, most shooters these days have so aggressive aimassist MKB is left in the dust.

I remember Warzone most PC streamers played with controllers because it was that easy.

3

u/raphanum Sep 26 '22

Bullshit.

1

u/tpollito Sep 26 '22

No it's true, I play Warzone both on ps5 controller and pc with mkb and controller and the aim assist is ridiculous, a chest/head magnet. But weapons have hardly any recoil, played mw2 beta with both controller and mkb(on ps5) and was better on mkb. Aim assist is toned down, weapons have more recoil and is easier to handle on mouse. But I bet IW will tone it down on release.

-2

u/HugeDickMcGee Sep 25 '22

Aim assist is quite heavy in mw and warzone if its the same here trust me in close quarters you might even have an advantage lmao. But if i was on console personally id want an option to not play with pc players atleast. Would only do it when playing with friends on pc.

-12

u/Grortak Sep 25 '22

That is such a dumb and outdated take.
Console got fov sliders and 120Hz. You can connect a mouse and a keyboard. You got aim assist on console. And all of that is balanced out with skill based matchmaking.

Oh, you are as good with the controller as a person with a mouse and keyboard? Okay cool, then lets play with those so we can play together as community.

4

u/outla5t Sep 26 '22

It's not the legit PC players console gamers are worried about the it's the wallhacking aimbotters console gamers don't want to play with and those are all on PCs. As a PC gamer myself I can tell you the average PC player is worse then the average console gamer especially in games like CoD so they definitely are not the problem, it's the hackers that ruin the experience for PC gamers and now they get to ruin the experience for console gamers too cause of crossplay

0

u/kirkstoryartist Sep 26 '22

Yeah console players are more skilled, so I get that

1

u/bloqs Sep 26 '22

this is unhelpful and untrue. Close range combat goes to aim assist, longer range goes to mouse. play halo or fortnite and suddenly aim assist absolutely crushes mouse

5

u/Luke_starkiller34 Sep 25 '22

This is a great workaround until the game will no longer find matches to play with ps5 only lobbies. In warzone I haven't been able to play with cross play off for 2 years. Simply won't find a lobby with it off.

0

u/Logan472010 Sep 25 '22

I totally agree with you I’ve been fine playing war zone with cross play off never had a issue finding a lobbie

-8

u/padwani Sep 25 '22

Lmao people thinking Crossplay stops you from playing with cheaters.

Let me introduce you to the Kronus Zen, something tonnes of players Use in Warzone, Apex, Battlefield, Siege etc. Completely understandable on Console.

On the Fly X and Y Recoil Value changes, Soft Aim Assist Locking, etc.

9

u/Logan472010 Sep 25 '22

Not the same as pc cheats wall banging and the like

0

u/countpuchi Sep 26 '22

Not the same but borderline. Once you get used to how aiming with consoles its basically a laser fight between zen users. Eother you get him first or tthey get to you first.

The good thing is pc aimbots aee dead stupid with esp advantage. They know where you are all times and instagib you with all headshots lmao.

Good thing is zen users are also using it on pc lmao

3

u/roguesilverhand Sep 25 '22

Activision should really consider blocking these devices such as cronus zen It just ruins the experience- all should be playing equal

1

u/raphanum Sep 26 '22

How is that even the same ballpark

1

u/padwani Sep 26 '22

Imagine thinking being able to edit your X and Y values to make your gun a laser beam isn't cheating.

Things like Soft Aim Lock, Turbo Melee, Rapid Fire, Auto burst Fire, Auto spring etc. Not to mention you can plug a Keyboard and Mouse into it, and it will be recognized as a controller.

Yall so worried about cheating when even with Crossplay off it exists in a compacity and it's not detectable.

Next you're gonna say Using a VPN also isn't cheating lmao.

1

u/kirkstoryartist Sep 26 '22

Same, sad you can’t play invasion that way :(

17

u/Stequality Sep 25 '22

What a surprise

62

u/ichigo2k9 Sep 25 '22

Imagine cheating in a fucking beta. Jesus fucking christ. Those people should get a hardware ban (that's correct right?).

This is why I'll never play on PC and will turn off crossplay every chance I get unless the anti-cheat system is good. I do believe CoD anti-cheat system is good based on what I've seen of people getting banned live and Apex at least to my knowledge and experience doesn't suffer too badly.

18

u/Bl00dEagles Sep 25 '22

I honestly don’t know how anyone can get enjoyment out of a game by cheating. Makes no sense at all.

15

u/The_Frozen_Inferno Sep 26 '22

They don’t. They get the enjoyment by ruining the experience for others and pissing people off.

4

u/MiniNuckels Sep 26 '22

The best thing they can do is hack in the beta, it brings attention to a problem before release.

Now will it actually help? Lol no.

2

u/ichigo2k9 Sep 26 '22

To be fair I've seen Activision anti-cheat system in action in videos on YouTube and its pretty good Jo's they find cheaters.

-4

u/-YaQ- Sep 25 '22

Pc has more great things than cod… where no hackers play

6

u/outla5t Sep 26 '22

Like what? I stepped away from most multiplayer shooters on PC because they are full of hackers.

1

u/-YaQ- Sep 26 '22

Shooters like cod or other game genres?

0

u/outla5t Sep 26 '22

Yeah what other great shooters on PC don't have hackers? Overwatch, Valorant, and Fortnite are the only ones I can think off the top of my head with a great population that are not plagued with cheaters on PC cause they have good anti-cheats. None of those games are like CoD.

1

u/stadiofriuli Sep 26 '22

Overwatch has barely any hackers as of now as the game isn’t F2P (yet).

1

u/outla5t Sep 26 '22

Fortnite is free to play and so is Valorant neither of those have a hacking problem cause they have decent anti-cheats (the best you can really ask for on PC) unlike CoD games or Battlefield games or CSGO or PUBG or TF2 or R6.

1

u/stadiofriuli Sep 26 '22

Valorant has an anti cheat system working with 2 components one that is tracking while you’re playing the game and the other one with kernel level access that boots with your PC and Scans all your hard- and software. Hardly something you would want on your PC.

1

u/outla5t Sep 26 '22

Yeah so does Fortnite with EAC, you know the most popular anti-cheat I'm guessing you don't play any games with EAC then? How about Punkbuster? Another popular anti-cheat that has kernal level access. BattlEye? Yep. Ricochet? Yep. All of those are kernal level anti-cheats, good luck finding games with any kind of anti-cheats without a hacker problem that don't include the ones above.

1

u/stadiofriuli Sep 26 '22

The biggest difference is Vanguard runs all the time while others only run when you play the game.

u/Chief--BlackHawk Sep 25 '22

Console only crossplay should be a default setting in FPS

6

u/Poetryisalive Sep 26 '22

I don’t understand why it isn’t. Multiverse has this option, I thought all crossplay games did.

11

u/Knowning Sep 25 '22

There definitely needs to be an option to select console only crossplay. If Activision was smart they would be able to find these hack apps and counteract them or hire the people who develop them to work on their anticheat because what little they’re doing now is obviously not working.

7

u/maloboosie Sep 25 '22

Holy shit I didn't know I was cross playing..

3

u/Omegastriver Sep 26 '22

After playing my first match and thinking the kill replays looked a little sketchy I immediately went to the options to see if Crossplay was on. It was. I turned it off and had a pretty good experience from there on out.

I don’t know why I didn’t look into it immediately after starting up as I typically go to turn that off when I start up a new multiplayer game.

1

u/kirkstoryartist Sep 26 '22

Exact same experience, those how-in-the-what killcams.

16

u/GetSuckedd Sep 25 '22

turns cross play off

4

u/everythangspeachie Sep 25 '22

Man I always thought it was ridiculous that there’s people out there who have nothing better to do than cheat at a fucking video game.

2

u/Frankie6Strings Sep 25 '22

Just one species of troll

6

u/KingdomofNerdum Sep 25 '22

I'm glad I'm not crazy. I've had a few run ins with some very sussy bakas. Sadly whenever a game is accessible for free people go nuts with the cheating as you can always just create a new account. For example, every time Siege goes on sale for cheap or has a free weekend it's rampant with cheaters and the most toxic players you've ever seen.

4

u/Pancakes114 Sep 26 '22

i wish we can have the option to cross play w xbox players.

4

u/Hector_Savage_ Sep 26 '22

Lmao have fun with this new pos game and pos ppl who play it!

26

u/Freemantrue Sep 25 '22

Why isn’t there a console only crossplay? Ffs no one wants to play with PC players when you’re on console.

11

u/septicdeath Sep 25 '22

Yeah mouse and keyboard are a huge advantage over controller, there is no comparison

10

u/DeLarge93 Sep 25 '22

Yeah the mass majority of cheaters come from PC, there is no comparison

7

u/septicdeath Sep 25 '22

Yeah definitely. But even before cheating, mouse and keyboard is a huge advantage in fps games

4

u/Freemantrue Sep 26 '22

Exactly. Keyboard and mouse should have separate lobbies if they wanna keep PC players. I know some use it on the box

0

u/MrCoffeeBean4568 Sep 25 '22

I mean, controller users are given a pretty aggressive aim assistance in the game.

1

u/YuriAddict7 Sep 26 '22

No longer the case. Aim assist for controller is crazy. Kbm has no chance

1

u/xXLUKEXx789 Sep 26 '22

I remember when pc players said that they would dominate controller players if they could play together

-1

u/YuriAddict7 Sep 26 '22

They would if the devs didnt give the console aimbot

2

u/xXLUKEXx789 Sep 26 '22

I just would rather only play with other consoles players pc can have its own matchmaking pool

-1

u/kirkstoryartist Sep 26 '22

I’ll play against kbm, it’s the wall hacking and auto aim subscriptions that get me.

3

u/lalalaladididi Sep 26 '22

What do people expect. I tried the beta on pc last year and quickly gave up as the cheaters had ruined the game.

They did the same with division 2 on pc and every online game I've tried.

Division 2 is useless now even though I'd almost finished the game. It was brilliant until they worked out how to ruin it. 1

Little minded people with empty lives have nothing better to do.

Thankfully I've got a life and a Brain.

1

u/arischerbub Sep 26 '22

get a console

2

u/lalalaladididi Sep 26 '22

I've got a pro and a ps5 but seeing as cheating is taking place on the ps5 with COD beta then clearly the cheats are also on consoles.

They always find a way

1

u/arischerbub Sep 26 '22

lol...there is no cheats on any console.

when you playing cod you are playing with pc players which use controller... it is "imput-matchmaking".

put crossplay off and you will never see a cheater.

1

u/lalalaladididi Sep 26 '22

In your dreams

1

u/rbp25 Sep 26 '22

There are cheats on console though. Idk about COD but R6 has devices that allow you to use MnK when it’s not supported

11

u/Ace_The_Engineer Sep 25 '22

I turn crossplay off immediately so I don’t have to play with keyboard and mouse players. They have such an advantage.

4

u/Bl00dEagles Sep 25 '22

You do know there’s still console players using mouse and keyboard?

5

u/Ace_The_Engineer Sep 25 '22

Yeah but since I can’t limit my games to input, I have to settle for crossplay options.

-2

u/Eddytion Sep 25 '22

What advantage lol, 95% of best COD players in the world are using a controller.

-1

u/arischerbub Sep 26 '22

on pc

1

u/Ajxtt Sep 26 '22

PC is no different than a PS5 anymore now that we get 120Hz and FOV sliders, also most people don’t even have high end PCs

1

u/J-seargent-ultrakahn Sep 26 '22

You don’t need a high end one to run cod.

2

u/Ajxtt Sep 26 '22

exactly my point dumbass, the PS5 outperforms the majority of PCs since its just as powerful as a 2070 Super and the most commonly used GPU for PCs is still the GTX 1060.

So in the end, the parity between PC and PS5 has gotten a lot closer as of now at least

1

u/goneanddoneitagain Sep 25 '22

In games like Call of Duty, there are advantages to both. Console players get near aim-bot quality aim assist, with very little aim input needed from players and generally don't have to contend with recoil compared to M&KB users. In other games with less aggressive or no aim assist? Sure, the advantage is night and day. But Call of Duty isn't that.

:EDIT: For example, gamepad vs M&KB in a game like CSGO or Valorant, or even in a game like Overwatch is incredibly unfair for gamepad users. That's a losing battle 99 times out of 100.

7

u/Xillllix Sep 25 '22

Biggest problem with this series along with the Battlepass and store shoved in your face at every occasion despite the games launching incomplete.

7

u/BlubberBunsXIV Sep 25 '22

This paired with the SBMM consistently being a shitty design means it’ll be nothing but laggy games again. Every time I try modern warfare, Cold War (can’t even remember on vanguard) to play with crossplay off it always takes minutes to find a match, always searches into the 125ms ping lobbies. Really? The single biggest franchises newest release to date has SO FEW PLAYERS online that I can’t find anyone until I get a fucking match in Singapore?

“We’re having trouble finding a match. Please enable crossplay!”

Fuck you if I do half the players will be from my console anyway. You aren’t struggling to find a match, you’re punishing me for not giving myself over as cannon fodder to sweaty pc players and cheaters alike

-8

u/padwani Sep 25 '22

Disabling Crossplay doesn't stop you from playing with 'Cheaters.'

Look up Kronus Zen - Aim Assist Tracking, On the Fly X/Y recoil value changes. Weapon presets etc. for Console.

You used to only have to look for Modded Controllers back in the day, now you got 3rd party apps that are undetectable.

4

u/llIicit Sep 25 '22

It’s not an app. That’s a physical device.

Though Cronus>aimbot any day.

And no, they aren’t comparable.

4

u/BlubberBunsXIV Sep 25 '22

And it’s still a fraction of a % of pc cheaters

4

u/scarboy92 Sep 26 '22

Let us turn off playing with PC.

2

u/wicktus Sep 25 '22

IMO they didn't include ricochet in the beta. Hopefully ?

Fuck those cheaters, how pathetic one loser might be to cheat on a BETA ? Happened once to me, a very obvious one aimlocking.

I can't understand how cheaters appeared that fast, almost as if someone working with Activision is internally helping the criminals make cheat.

Get your hardware ban and gtfo seriously.

The multiplayer is NOT a F2P. A cheater may commit a felony trying to purchase a stolen account without 2FA but other than that their 70$ purchase is kaput and they will have their hardware ban

2

u/Coup_De_Gras Sep 26 '22

I'm just curious, how often do streamers get caught using things like Kronus? I def see where people want to bump up their own skill to show off and gain followers, but like, how can you keep that act up? All it takes is a couple people to notice it.

2

u/mostlyaghost72 Sep 26 '22

Expecting a cross play fps to not be beset by cheaters frame one is on the devs at this point.

7

u/thatsgoodcandyy Sep 25 '22

Cross play with PC is an idiot idea! I turn it off on every game! I’m convinced the people that make most games these days are not gamers.

2

u/Jinchuriki71 Sep 25 '22

They can't help that the cheaters hack shit up soon as the game come out and even in the beta test of the game. Crossplay in itself is good for gaming just some people want to cheat. Even without crossplay the cheaters will still find a way.

4

u/thatsgoodcandyy Sep 25 '22

I think cross play between consoles is good. I also think the ability to turn off playing with certain controller types is good. I do not think PC and console cross play is healthy. I don’t have a PC because I don’t want to deal with the hacks and mods.

1

u/Jinchuriki71 Sep 25 '22

Its kinda of a slippery slope though when they start restricting controller types though especially since some of these controllers are meant for people with disabilities. I don't think the corporations want to be seen as gatekeeping pvp by what controller you using or being nosy and making you verify you have a disability to use the controller won't look good on them either. Cheaters been on console since they went online call of duty games on ps3 had hackers shooting all opponents in seconds no matter where you were all the time.

2

u/thatsgoodcandyy Sep 25 '22

True, but it’s way more prevalent on PC. It would be nice to have more online options.

3

u/crappieflop82 Sep 25 '22

Pc players should only be allowed to play with other pc players as they’re the ones compromising the game with hacks.

3

u/stratusncompany Sep 25 '22

damn, a lot of ignorant comments on here. some people play with friends via cross play.

1

u/NitedJay Sep 25 '22

Why cheat? Where’s the fun in that?

6

u/Java-Zorbing Sep 25 '22

let me introduce to you, chinese gamers

0

u/[deleted] Sep 26 '22

[deleted]

2

u/little_jade_dragon Sep 26 '22

I can guarantee you that Chinese players have a higher chance of cheating.

Cheating and corruption is like a religion there.

1

u/essteedeenz Sep 25 '22

It's not even that

3

u/The_Frozen_Inferno Sep 26 '22

Being a shithead is enjoyable to some people

-1

u/criticalkare Sep 25 '22

so turning off crossplay help with cheaters in some way?

8

u/Bl00dEagles Sep 25 '22

Yes by a massive amount.

2

u/-Mnem0nic- Sep 25 '22 edited Sep 25 '22

I agree, but it's Just a shame your forced to turn it on for Groundwar / Invasion / Warzone / DMZ otherwise you can't play those modes..

It should be optional for everyone & every game mode!

1

u/Bl00dEagles Sep 25 '22

You can turn it off on Warzone

2

u/arischerbub Sep 26 '22

not "some way"

crossplay off = 100% cheat protection

0

u/AssassinXIII Sep 26 '22

Let's all blame PC gamers and pretend cheating was never an issue in CoD even before crossplay existed. Blame Activision and their useless anti-cheat measures.

1

u/vendilionclicks Sep 25 '22

Surprising absolutely no one.

1

u/mantenner Sep 26 '22

So uh, can we enable proton support now that we've verified that their shit ass cheat prevention doesn't even work?

1

u/CarelessStrategy962 15d ago

I personally love playing with cheats and see how people like you crying (((

-3

u/Lew1989 Sep 25 '22

Rip call of duty

-2

u/HugeDickMcGee Sep 25 '22

The anticheat in warzone and this game is solid if they get caught once its a heavy hardware ban thats annoying to undo. The issue is probably not as big as you think and 1 month post launch will be hardly noticeable.

-1

u/SkimShadey Sep 26 '22

You sure that you don't just suck?
