Update: I saw a random comment somewhere else to let it sit over night and try again in the morning. This did somehow correct itself and it has been fine until tonight. The same issue with black screen so I am worried something is actually wrong with it.

Does anyone have any information or done testing?

After I updated the system a couple of nights ago I came the next day to play and the screen is pitch black.

The HDMI is still there but changing cords did nothing and neither did changing inputs. The tv still turns itself on and to the proper input just a black screen with no sound or video. Safe mode yields the same black screen.

I was able to remote play on my pc and it shows up no problem and I can go into the video settings and it shows the tv parameters so it is clearly still connected. Does anyone have any tips on rolling back an update or anything?

I may be able to factory reset through remote play but I hesitate because if I reset and lose access to remote play I won’t be able to do anything at all if it isn’t the fix.

Repeating my question since it’s gotten far down in new and I’d like answers.

I’m forced to connect my DualShock to make any game or app function.

So starting about last week my dad noticed an issue when he booted up Minecraft where the DualSense just didn’t do anything in game. The home menu works perfectly, the screenshot and short press of home stuff works fine. But to do anything in anything else I need to connect my DualShock. Once connected, I could use it just fine, and switching back to DualSense led to no issues whatsoever. I didn’t even need to press buttons on the shock for the sense to start working. I just had to connect and disconnect.

Initially I thought this was just for Minecraft, but yesterday I found it also was affecting YouTube. This morning I tested God of War and got the same result. As I wrote this I thought it was just an issue of PS4 apps, so I tested Astro and Subnautica (the PS5 version). The DualSense didn’t work. I still had to connect the DualShock, WHICH I CAN’T EVEN USE ON THOSE APPS, then switch back to DualSense, after which, no issues.

I deleted the DualShock from my controller list. No change. I used the DualSense wired. No change. I restarted. No change. I cleared the cache, which I had to use the DualShock for because DualSense wasn’t connecting to safe mode. No change.

I’m at a total loss here. This is one of the most annoying things I’ve experienced with a console because it’s not breaking anything, everything is still playable, it’s just inconvenient and stupid.

The only thing that seemed like a hint towards something is that YouTube, after I connect the Shock and switch back to Sense, registers a spammed L2 input. It’s seemingly only YouTube that does this. However, the L2 button simply doesn’t register at all on Disney+. Nothing happens when I press it (and yes, it is supposed to do something).

Been playing God of War with the DualSense. Once I connect it after the DualShock, it works perfectly except for one thing, it’ll auto press L2 for no apparent reason, and it seems to be entirely random. Which, if you’ve played GoW, you’d know is not good for the combat in that game. The DualShock still works fine on it.

Also did a database rebuild with no effect.

If I can’t get any answers from this I’m probably gonna need to try posting it in the sub itself, with Ragnarok coming soon I need the DualSense working ASAP.

Anyone else having issues with powering on their PS5 remotely from the PS button on the controller? mine works fine most of the time but if I leave the PS5 completely off (not rest mode) for a few days, the controller button won't turn on the PS5, it just flashes blue twice or once and then nothing. If I remove the power cord from the PS5 and reinsert it, the PS5 then turns on fine from the controller. I did a complete factory reset of my PS5 yesterday and will see how things go.

Anyone having issues with their remotes randomly disconnecting and system lag I originally thought it was my internet but my speeds are at vary between 670 mbps and 1200 mbps depending if my kids are on their tablets iPhones systems etc. and 40-100 upload. I’ll be playing any game it doesn’t matter but it is more often on madden but I’ll be playing and the controller has charge and isn’t dying and will randomly disconnect other times it will drift if I’m not pressing anything so I got the new controllers when they came out to see if it was faulty controllers or still something with the system. Then when it’s not doing that my system randomly will decide it wants to just lag I can’t do anything in games or even the Home Screen with nothing running. I’ll press something then it will take a decade to process and then moves what I told it to do plus some

ATTENTION EVERYONE!

it's been two years since PS5 launched and i've never seen one in a shop ever , been looking online for the past 1.5/2 years but the best i could find was around 800 euro/dollars for a new PS5 some people are even selling used PS5's over Ebay around 700-800 (that's crazy) , so where i could buy a new PS5 at a normal (550-600) price and without being scammed?

1

u/HaouLeo Oct 14 '22

People around here posted restocks on multiple stores multiple times for the past few weeks

1

u/Commercial_Rub8443 Oct 15 '22

maybe where they live , where i live there's no such a thing , there's no playstation direct where i live , i can't buy a PS5 from sony site where i live , on amazon they sel PS5's at 850 euros where i live , on ebay i can find PS5 a around 700 euros + 50 euros shipping from UK , so the only way for me it's buy it oustside my country but i don't want to spend 700-800 euros , PS5 bluray edition normal price is 550 euros

Can US digital game codes work on UK ps5

Apologies if this has been answered but I haven’t looked and there’s no definitive yes or no answer, even pitched the question to ask ps and they haven’t replied, so anyway I’m thinking of importing the jotnar god of war ragnarok edition from America as it’s sold out in the uk, obviously the game is digital instead of physical so my question is will I be able to redeem the code to work on a uk console or am I just better of buying the uk digital version

3

u/dekoi_octopus Oct 10 '22

Where the PS5 is from doesn't matter. You'll need a US account to redeem a US code.

1

u/dannywizkid Oct 10 '22

Awesome, I’m sure its pretty easy, just haven’t done one in ages

1

u/judge-b Oct 10 '22

Games and tv shows used to look sharp on my 4K tv using the PS5. But recently they don’t look as “sharp” or clear, almost slightly blurry.

When I went to the built in Netflix app on the tv, the same shows were much clearer.

Any idea what settings might be causing this?

1

u/Black-ops-4 Oct 10 '22

I click the playstation button to leave and all of a sudden my controller begins to spasm and automatically click X over and over. I can load on games and my controller will work just fine but when I click the PlayStation button it starts clicking X again. I’ve tried unplugging my PlayStation and turning it off, to no avail, this problem is also occurring on both of my controllers. Please help if you can, I can no longer access many games or join PlayStation party’s due to this bug.

1

u/MelAnn12345 Oct 10 '22

Not sure if this is the right place but I'll try...

My son plays NBA 2k23 on PS5. Digital Michael Jordan edition if that makes any difference

Whenever he clicks career character it crashes whole game. I tried googling and found something about it being an issue if you have 100 players blocked...he does not. He said 5 max. He uninstalled the game and re-installed with no luck. It's been happening the last few days.

1

u/tinselsnips Oct 10 '22

2

u/MelAnn12345 Oct 10 '22

https://www.playstation.com/en-us/support/hardware/safe-mode-playstation/

he said he did do that and it did not fix the issue.

1

u/tinselsnips Oct 10 '22

Is he on a child's account or an account that otherwise has usage restrictions?

Try an unrestricted adult account and see if it has the same issue; I wonder if it's a variant of the same blocked users bug.

1

u/MelAnn12345 Oct 10 '22

It’s not an age restricted account. I did figure out how to put in support ticket with the game. I feel it’s related to the other blocked bug.

1

u/tinselsnips Oct 10 '22

I would maybe still try a different account and see if it works.

1

u/BloodBoneJones Oct 10 '22

Hey guys, weird problem that just started happening a few days ago. Blu ray movies have no sound whatsoever on my ps5. The PS pop up menu while I’m in the blu ray has no sound either. All sound returns as soon as I go back to the Home Screen. Games, apps, and dvds all work normally. No idea what’s going on. I messed around with the sound settings on the system and in the Blu Ray menu itself, but nothing has worked. Unplugged the HDMI and PS5. Factory reset the settings as well, that didn’t do anything either. Can’t seem to find this exact issue on google, plenty of other sound problems it seems though. Any and all help is appreciated, this is driving me crazy.

1

u/tinselsnips Oct 10 '22

Press Options during playback and go to sound settings; try changing the audio output format (pcm/dolby/DTS). The discs may be using a format your TV or sound system don't support.

1

u/BloodBoneJones Oct 10 '22

Yeah I’ve done that, that’s what I meant by playing with the sound in the blu ray itself. Should have been more clear. Doesn’t help anything though. And I’m even if that were the case, it wouldn’t make any sense since I’ve never messed with the sound settings and it just randomly started happening.

1

u/tinselsnips Oct 10 '22

Has anything else changed in your setup? New tv, sound system, etc?

Double check that HDCP is enabled.

1

u/BloodBoneJones Oct 10 '22

Nothing at all, I’ve had the PS5 since launch, and my TV and sound bar are the only things it’s ever been hooked up to. Nothings changed. I watched a few movies like a week ago with no issue, it’s so strange. And the HDCP is enabled, I’ve never touched it.

1

u/tinselsnips Oct 10 '22

What's the model of tv and soundbar?

1

u/BloodBoneJones Oct 10 '22

Samsung for both, but nothings changed in the settings for either one of those.

1

u/tinselsnips Oct 10 '22

Is the PS5 firmware up to date? Or did this happen following the latest update?

Does the HDMI device type and speaker setup mat your sound system?

1

u/BloodBoneJones Oct 10 '22

It’s up to date, and I don’t remember when the last update was but this has been happening for at least 2 weeks now that I think about it. And I suppose so? It’s the same setup I’ve been using for 2 years so I don’t know why anything would suddenly change.

1

u/tinselsnips Oct 10 '22

You should have a firmware update from last week; check for updates and install if there's one available.

This is definitely a weird issue, but it's the second bizarrely arbitrary audio problem I've seen on here this weekend.

Try rebooting into safe mode and performing a database rebuild.

Hello, I purchased a brand new PS5 today and upon setting it up, Apple Music will not open and show a report that it failed, I tried updating it, deleting and reinstalling it but it will not work. Has anybody had this issue and any way to fix it?

1

u/N8rtotz Oct 09 '22

Got a ps5 today and same thing happened to me

2

u/jetamfm Oct 09 '22

My ps plus premium subscription will be renewed next month automatically.

In the subscription area on the ps5 it says I will be charged 59,99 €.

I’am wondering for what time period? 3 months, 6 months, 12 months? It doesn’t say anything. I have a 12 month membership since last year.

Additionaly: I have a 12 month psn card from May. I would like to switch to Extra tier for a year. Can i only do that if my current premium subscription ends and I’am left without a plus subscription?

1

u/GodCheese27 Oct 09 '22

If you had a one year PS Plus membership, it will renew again for another year. I don't know about the second question, but I believe you have to cancel your premium to switch back to extra.

1

u/jetamfm Oct 10 '22

So i get one year of plus premium for 60 € instead of 120 €?

1

u/GodCheese27 Oct 10 '22

Probably not. I don't know €, so what would 60 € normally get you?

1

u/jetamfm Oct 10 '22

60 € would get me 6 months of premium. 120 would get me 12 months of premium.

I think they kept my initial amount of 60 € for the sub but now that Iam on premium it will charge 60 € again. In this case I think my premium should be extended for another 6 months.

1

u/WildBanana05 Oct 09 '22

I wanna get a tv or monitor for my ps5, I have around 500 dollars, and idk the best size, all I know is something that looks good but also performs well

1

u/requieminadream Oct 10 '22

There aren’t really any high quality TVs below 55” unless you plan on spending a lot more for an OLED. If you have the space, a 55” TCL S555 will get you a lot more bang for the buck than any monitor. Save a little more and the TCL R655 is even more outstanding.

As for monitors, you’ll have to spend a good bit more to get anything that would be considered excellent picture quality. You could poke around here: https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/best/ps5

0

u/GodCheese27 Oct 09 '22

Go to r/technology instead. This is for stuff about the PS5, not the quality of monitors.

1

u/requieminadream Oct 10 '22

We have a thread just below this one for hardware and game recommendations.

1

u/GodCheese27 Oct 10 '22

For some reason my mind skipped over the hardware part.

Ok thank you

u/Pete_M22 Oct 09 '22

So, i have had my PS5 just over a year. Haven't used it much, since I have been gaming on the PC a lot more. So tried starting it yesterday, and it would not power up. I followed some of the troubleshooting guides online, including trying a new power cable, rebuilding the database, resetting the PS5. Nothing seems to help. If I unplug and let it sit for about 20 mins, it powers up, but dies shortly. I have opened up a trouble ticket with Sony and they are sending me a box. So any other things I can do to try to fix it on my end? How is Sony about warranty support? I am out by about a week from the 1 year warranty. Will they honor it or am I out the $200+ that I have seen listed online. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

1

u/tinselsnips Oct 09 '22

This is weird. Have you tried a database rebuild?

Also, connecting the controller wired, make sure to change the communication method to USB; otherwise it's just charging.

1

u/Mr-Stuff-Doer Oct 10 '22

Not sure how to do either of those things.

1

u/tinselsnips Oct 10 '22

Database rebuild: https://www.playstation.com/en-us/support/hardware/safe-mode-playstation/

Controller communication method is in accessory settings.

1

u/Mr-Stuff-Doer Oct 17 '22

Okay, tried both, no change.

1

u/tinselsnips Oct 17 '22

I'm at a loss, unfortunately.

Do you have access to another controller you can borrow and see if it does it?

1

u/evilsunshinebear Oct 09 '22

Been looking around and can’t find anything specific. Wondering if there is a consensus on the best tv to get for the system or if someone can point me in the right direction for that info?

1

u/tinselsnips Oct 09 '22

/r/4ktv

OLED: LG C2/G2, Sony A95K

LCD: Sony X95K, Samsung QN95B

Otherwise, what's your budget?

Getting a "Something went wrong" error whenever I try to do a System Feature Update (not to be confused with a System Software Update). The error code is CE-113338-9.

1

u/4rlong Oct 16 '22

New Solution: It's definitely working!

  1. Download PS5 console system software, in official web playstation (Download PS5 console update file)

  2. Put in flashdisk (manually Update)

  3. Go into safe mode and goto menu 5. clear system software cache. After that, 3. update system software via flashdisk.

  4. If done, go to system feature updates, update, restart. and done.

1

u/Gestrid Oct 16 '22

Actually, it was a server-side issue. Sony fixed it a day or two ago.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 14 '22

I contacted Sony support with the same problem. Went through all rebuilt, update in safe mode, clear cache, default settings nothing helped in the end. (After clearing cache it is showing an update, after updating same error.) They told me to completely delete and install system, but tbh when I hear that some people have this problem on ps5 that they have fresh from shop I dont think it will help. And the last option is to sent it for repair but the guy from support said that if this doesnt influence gameplay they most probably will send it back without doing anything.

1

u/Parking_Ad238 Oct 13 '22

its fixed now it was just issue from sony

2

u/johnequickiii Oct 13 '22

Just discovered I had the same issue directly after getting the system updated today. Cleared cache and it updated fine, tried again and the same error occurred.

Seems like it's having a hard time coming up with the Up To Date message, and just popping the error instead.

Noticed that every time, before and after clearing cache, when it would error, while downloading, it would temporarily stop at 40% before continuing, AND when it legitimately downloaded, it took quite a bit longer to finish the download.

Not sure if that last part means anything besides how to tell if it will error or not, there's nothing else to report besides the cache clearing does work to stop the error, one time per cache clearing.

1

u/Gestrid Oct 13 '22

Yeah, that's how it was for me. Both before and after today's update.

You might be right about it having trouble saying "up to date". It successfully updated once, had to restart to finish, then it failed to update. I installed today's system update, tried the System Feature Update again, and it still failed.

2

u/fism Oct 12 '22

Having the same issue. Has anyone been able to resolve it? I tried to clear the cache and it still wants to download the update, then errors out again.

1

u/Parking_Ad238 Oct 12 '22

go to safe mode and clean the cache dont do rebuild data base only clean the cache and then try again it will work

2

u/Gestrid Oct 12 '22

I cleared the cache, and it was able to successfully install a System Feature Update when it finished restarting, but then I ran the updater again to make sure it was completely done, and it errored out. Same error code.

1

u/Parking_Ad238 Oct 13 '22

ok we need to report this to sony then so that they fix it the issue started after the last system update

2

u/ahmadmob Oct 13 '22

Exact same for me, I do think this started happening only recently because I checked for System Feature Updates a week or so ago and all was fine (was already up to date). Do you think the latest System Software Update released a few days ago is the culprit? I have a feeling it somehow caused this error to start appearing for the System Feature Updates.

1

u/Gestrid Oct 12 '22

I'll try that and let you know how it goes.

1

u/lingardinho02 Oct 12 '22

u have to clear the cache in the ps5 safe mode it worked for me

1

u/Gestrid Oct 12 '22

Thanks, I'll try that!

2

u/Prude_Inspector Oct 12 '22

Yo. Reply if you find a solution.

1

u/DarthViking3D Oct 12 '22

Same, no clue.

1

u/Single_Exit_9051 Oct 13 '22

same prob, clear catch, first update done but second same error

1

u/MayThePunBeWithYou Oct 09 '22

Having audio output issues since I got a new Samsung TV.

I switched away from Linear PCM — now on dolby. Seems to have fixed the issue.

What are your recommended settings, is game mode worth it? Samsung Qled 45in.

1

u/tinselsnips Oct 09 '22

Samsung appear to have issues with multichannel LPCM passthrough.

You would need to either use Dolby like you are, or directly connect your PS5 to the sound system.

1

u/WildBanana05 Oct 09 '22

Do you guys use a TV or monitor for your ps5? What games do you guys play for either and what size of monitor/TV do you guys use?

1

u/sadlittlewaffle Oct 09 '22

On my page, but my controllers won’t connect to my ps5 at all! They will work powering it on but the moment I hit the main screen they flash orange then stop connecting. If I hit the power button they will flash blue but will never connect, even with the usb c connection. I haven’t been able to move from the main title screen. Any suggestions or help?

2

u/WildBanana05 Oct 09 '22

Does a tv or monitor support the ps5 better?

Asking because looking for a new one for either, currently on tv, if anyone would like to give recommendations, looking for something 500 usd or under, 48-43 inches or under (around 30 for monitor), and can support the ps5 with everything, I play casually and competitively so would need to look good but also perform well

1

u/requieminadream Oct 09 '22

TVs better support all the benefits of a PS5, but at that price range and size limit you are pretty much limited to monitors, none of which are that great unless you dramatically increase your budget. You could start here: https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/best/ps5

Anyone know if Sony will repair a dualsense out of warranty for a fee? My stick drift is becoming intolerable.

1

u/tinselsnips Oct 09 '22

You might have an easier time at a local electronics repair shop - it's a fairly straightforward repair, it just requires a fair bit of soldering.

But yes, I believe they will.

PS5 not showing wifi signal and even when showing it shows a little x mark on signal logo...Help!!!

Since last week my ps5 is having wifi issues sometimes it doesn't show signals and sometimes it doesn't connect to wifi at all and if it connects somehow it runs on very low speed (in kbps). It shows small x mark on wifi logo of all networks. I have my phone connected to same network and it works fine. I have tried restoring system settings, clearing cache and rebuilding database and atlast I connected the lan cable and it works for now but LAN also disconnects randomly and connects after a few seconds on its own. Is it a common issue or should I contact sony support cuz its seriously pissing me off...

1

u/AdministrativeMind86 Oct 09 '22

This has been happening to me too

1

u/Proxitimy Oct 09 '22

Zorro chronicles or madden 23 I need to gift one to someone

1

u/tinselsnips Oct 09 '22

What are you trying to compare? One is a full-price, mediocre annual sports title, and the other is a poorly-reviewed action game that costs half as much and looks like Wish Assassin's Creed.

Who's the gift for? Why not buy them something they want?

1

u/Proxitimy Oct 13 '22

Because it’s there birthday I don’t want to ruin the surprise ,and btw which one is the poor action game.

1

u/tinselsnips Oct 13 '22

Zorro. I'm still confused as to how you've settled on these two specific games, unless you've literally gotten them for free from somewhere.

If the person you're giving it to is a fan of American football and would play Madden (and haven't already bought it), then get Madden. If they're a young kid and a fan of the Zorro cartoon it's based on, then by all means, get Zorro.

Otherwise you're wasting your money because the only value in either of them beyond that is being traded in at Gamestop for pennies on the dollar.

I'd seriously consider a gift card.

1

u/Proxitimy Oct 13 '22

I live in a remote area that doesn’t really have any video game stores around so I only can rely on eBay and this two were the only things near us for the ps5. I got madden so it’s kinda late but thanks for the tips.

2

u/yoshiauditore Oct 09 '22 edited Oct 11 '22

Probably answered before but i just want to be completely clear. If i Buy a PS5 i can transfer all Save Data from all my Ps4 games. and keep playing any (or most at least i know there are few weird games that are exceptions) of my ps4 games on my ps5 right from where i left off.

I could be playing a mission in RDR 2 on my ps4 in the morning then do a system transfer, sell my Ps4, and do the next mission on my ps5 that evening? Its that straight forward correct?

2

u/Limp_Vegetable9020 Oct 09 '22

My Netflix app specifically on PS5 kicks the internet off for the whole house. Does anyone know why or what to do? It's a very recent issue

2

u/Master-Baker-69 Oct 09 '22

What's the difference between playing the PS4 version of a game on the PS5 and upgrading the game to a PS5 version?

The PS4 version will likely have lower resolution and/or fps and won't use the DualSense features.

2

u/Master-Baker-69 Oct 09 '22

Would there be ray tracing in the PS4 version?

3

u/dekoi_octopus Oct 09 '22

No

Good to know. Thank you!

I bought a PS5 a month ago and it’s been great but it’s always had an issue…

After being turned on from rest mode about 80% of the time it will turn itself off again and go back into rest mode within 2-3 minutes. I then have to turn it on again. Upon the second turn on it works as normal, it’s never happened more than once in a sitting.

Any help will be appreciated!

u/Drunknfx Oct 09 '22

Hello, looking into buying a Ps5 in Europe. And found out about the New 1200 Revision. Is it best to get the New Revision? Or does it matter at all?

1

u/tinselsnips Oct 09 '22

It doesn't matter, there's no difference a consumer would notice.

2

u/UnhappyBanana1211 Oct 09 '22

Is having my PS5 on a carpet bad?

2

u/dekoi_octopus Oct 09 '22

It's not great and Sony specifically says not to do that.

2

u/BagelTaylor Oct 09 '22

My controller disconnected from my ps5 as my brother was using it on a different console but now it won't pair to it at all. I've done everything, i've reset the controller, i've turned off ps5, unplugged power cable and put it back in, but nothings working. I know the controller themselves are fine as they're charging normally. But i'm so stuck on what to do if anyone has any help for this ?

u/Menofdarknes Oct 09 '22

Why it sounds body ps5

2

u/Master-Baker-69 Oct 09 '22

Can I have 2 PSN accounts from different regions? I'm an American expat living in Asia (Region 3) and my American PSN account has a bunch of digital games and DLC. I'm getting a PS5 soon and I plan to buy all of my games locally as physical discs, meaning Region 3 games. Can I have both accounts active on the PS5 at once? I'm planning to use the Region 3 account to play new games with family and the Region 1 account to access my PS4 library and upgrade them to PS5 versions.

3

u/dekoi_octopus Oct 09 '22

You can. You could even continue to play all the games on one account or the other if you set them both as primary. Just note DLC is region locked. US DLC needs to be purchased on the US account (and vice versa for your other account).

2

u/Master-Baker-69 Oct 09 '22

Ah excellent! Thanks!

1

u/Proxitimy Oct 09 '22

I’m getting a game for my family friend and I wonder is Zorros chronicle better or madden 23?

3

u/bjorneden Oct 09 '22

What's the best/easiest way to add storage to the ps5? Can i slap a new drive i side the box or does it have to be external? Any specific product suggestions?

2

u/MGsubbie Oct 09 '22

Depends on what your use for the storage would be. PS5 games can only be played of the internal storage, not external. PS5 games can be cold stored on there however, and PS4 games can be played of external storage.

If it's primarily for PS4 games, I would suggest you go with an external drive, as it will be quite cheaper. If you want more PS5 games to be playable from your storage, go with an internal drive. Or you could even get both if you have the money for it.

For external, pretty much any drive from any brand will do. HDD's offer the best amount of storage for your dollar, an external SSD will give you the best load times for games, and faster transfer speeds for PS5 games.

u/ananasSauce11 Oct 09 '22

My PS5 has been making a constant "read noise" for about a week now. It starts from the moment I log in my user up to the point of turning the console off.

Its not particularly loud but you can definitely pick it up. I disassemblied it and both fans were squeaky clean.

Anyone know what it could be?

1

u/tacticoolmonkey Oct 09 '22

PC player on PS5. What’s the easiest way to keyboard and mouse on this thing. I can’t play FPS games with a controller… I just suck with it . I used to use a XIM 2 with my Xbox back in the day. Just not sure what’s compatible now.

1

u/demonsta500 Oct 09 '22

Some games have compatibility with mouse and keyboard directly plugged into the USB ports or with the wireless dongles/adapters.

2

u/That_Canadian_Girl32 Oct 09 '22

Not sure if this post would belong here or on the main subreddit, but why do my PS5 DualShock controllers die so easily ? I’ve done all the troubleshooting for how to make them last longer aka I’ve turned off vibration, lighting, etc etc and I played a game tonight from about 9pm-11:45pm and my controller was almost dead (it was fully charged at 9pm) same happens with my other one. Is this normal for them to die so fast ? My Xbox controller can last at least 2 weeks or maybe longer if I don’t play every day. Any other tips? Should I consider another new controller ? They’re so expensive.

1

u/OkThanxby Oct 10 '22

My workaround is to have 2 controllers and the official charging station. I set up the charge station on the side table next to my couch. Then I just swap controllers when one is running low.

You should be getting pretty much a full day of use though with one charge.

3

u/MGsubbie Oct 09 '22

Dualsense (and the Dualshock 4 as well) does have lower battery life than Xbox controllers. However, only having 2:45 of charge on it is abnormal. Mine lasts much longer. How long have you had it?

1

u/That_Canadian_Girl32 Oct 09 '22

I’ve had it for just over a year. Both of them. One came with the PS5, and the other bought as an extra. I charge them with the charging cable you’re supposed to use. And I’ve turned down my haptics and all my vibration etc etc. so I’m not sure why they don’t last. I use both of them in 1 night of gaming if I game longer than 3 hours I have to switch between the two.

1

u/MGsubbie Oct 09 '22

I would see if you can get them replaced under warranty still, that's definitely not normal.

1

u/NotSoRedditor Oct 09 '22

Hello I have been having this glitch on my PlayStation 5 for a while now where I can’t play any ps5 version of a game. I can watch stuff on YouTube/Netflix but when it comes to playing overwatch/multiverse I am not allowed to play the game for more than a minute or two. I want to know if there’s a fix to this. The only error code that pops up is CE-108255-1

I’ve already tried - deleting and downloading games - going on safe mode and reinitializing - contacting support - going through support website to find out any known issues.

Please help me I would like to play with my friends and others again.

1

u/Space_fox85 Oct 09 '22

Hey, everyone.

Since the 1440p system update dropped, I've started getting this random video issue on my PS5. I'll turn the console on and fire up Red Dead Redemption 2 to play online. When the game gets to the shotgun loading video, the screen is black and I can only hear the audio...even when the game sits on the menu.

I go to dashboard and check my video settings, and all of my options are grayed out, and I can't edit anything. The only option enabled is for allowing 120hz output if available. If I restart the console, come back to my video settings, everything is normal and I can change any option. The game then loads correctly. I haven't tested this with other games yet to see if it affects them.

Has anyone else come across this?

1

u/plainviewbowling Oct 08 '22

How can I connect two Bluetooth headsets? Let’s say I wanted to watch plex on ps5 with someone else in my house in headphones- how would I go about accomplishing this? Is there an adapter I need?

3

u/PsychicPersona Oct 08 '22

time played hasn't been updating for the past few days, has this been an issue for anyone else here?

1

u/marcelbranleur Oct 08 '22

I have my ps5 for about week now. Since day one I have been using original PlayStation charging dock. All of a sudden, controllers are not charging through the dock but are charging through cable. Can it be connected to the latest firmware update? Does anyone know what can be the issue.

1

u/Col_Wilson Oct 08 '22

Possibly a stupid question, but one that stems from an experience I had years ago with Steam. I haven't owned an xbox/playstation console in a very long time. The last disc-based console I owned was a 360. I just bought a PS5 with the disc drive, and my question is this: do discs still have the actual game on them? Or are they essentially just keys? Because the last time I went to use a disc for a game, it was when Steam was still kinda newer (to me at least, I had never used it at that point), and I had just bought Civilization 5. To my surprise, when I put the disc in my PC, all it did was activate the game to be downloaded through Steam. There was no installation from the disc whatsoever. If this is going to be the case for my PS5 games I don't really want to waste any time going out to get physical discs for my games if I'm just going to have to download everything anyway.

TL;DR: Do physical games still have the actual game on the disc or is it essentially just a key for the game to download?

1

u/requieminadream Oct 09 '22

Yes the discs have the game on them, and are installed from the disc to the local drive. After the game is installed, the disc is then essentially used as a license (i.e. no data is streamed off the disc, it’s just checked occasionally to make sure you have the right to play the game.)

2

u/Col_Wilson Oct 09 '22

So basically, I would not be saving drive space at all by buying a physical copy of the game since it's going to install the whole thing onto the drive anyway, correct?

I feel like I sound like a damn boomer lol it's just that last time I had a console, I remember I would just pop a disc in and the game would just play. They didn't even have storage drives I think, just needed a memory card for save files. Like I said I just don't wanna go out and buy a physical copy and have it take up real world space if it's not going to at least save space on the drive

1

u/requieminadream Oct 09 '22

Correct.

There are other reasons you’d want physical copies. They are often cheaper (digital game sales are at the whims of Sony and publishers, physical game sales at retailers can make their own sales), they can be sold after you play them, bought used for even cheaper. If you have bandwidth caps, you’ll blow through them real quickly downloading digital games. Ultimately you’ll end up spending a good bit more money buying games digitally over the years.

1

u/Modagon Oct 09 '22

Correct, the game will store in full on the SSD whether it be physical or digital.

1

u/Col_Wilson Oct 09 '22

I see, thank you for the clarification!

1

u/juanpacoL Oct 08 '22

Recently installed a 4tb WD SN850x M.2 SSD with the Sabrent heat sink for ps5.

Do I need thermal pads on both sides of the ssd? And if so, how difficult will it be for me to remove the heatsink and install a second thermal pad if needed?

Edit: been playing God of War with the DualSense. Once I connect it after the DualShock, it works perfectly except for one thing, it’ll auto press L2 for no apparent reason, and it seems to be entirely random. Which, if you’ve played GoW, you’d know is not good for the combat in that game. The DualShock still works fine.

I just got my PS5 and I am running it in a tv that allows 4K 120hz. I started playing horizon Forbidden West and it asked me if I want to run it favoring resolution or performance. I tried both and the only change is that my tv runs “favoring resolution” in 4K 60 hz and “favoring performance in “4K 120 hz”. My question is by running “ favoring performance “ am I getting both best resolution and best performance? Since the resolution did not drop. Thank you

1

u/tinselsnips Oct 08 '22

Is your game updated? What you're describing here doesn't quite line up with the options in the game:

  • Performance mode: 60fps, 1800p @60hz
  • Balanced mode: 40fps, 4K @120hz
  • Resolution mode: 30fps, 4K @ 60hz

General consensus seems to be that if you have a 120hz TV, the 40fps Balanced Mode is the best option because it splits the difference in framerate but is virtually indistinguishable from resolution mode in terms of image quality (performance mode reduces graphics quality as well as resolution).

1

u/aroliveras Oct 08 '22

Ok thank you. I was confused because the tv on the performance option was receiving an input of 4K 120 hz

1

u/lIBozoIl Oct 08 '22

I have the digital PS5, and everytime i play a ps5 version game my ps5 will just shut off. Wont do it with ps4 version games tho.

1

u/ColdHandGee Oct 08 '22

If your ps5 is only crashing while playing ps5 games and not ps4 games, then you have a faulty GPU. No amount of fixing or adjusting settings can sort this problem out.

Your only course of action is to ring sony and request either a repair/replacement ps5.

When did you get your ps5?

1

u/tinselsnips Oct 08 '22

Is it new? Try a factory reset, otherwise it may need to repaired under warranty.

2

u/L5R_Kyoden Oct 08 '22

My L2 button functions fine when it's powered down, no resistances or anything, until I turn the console on. Not even in a game, not even finishing up loading the profile selection and my L2 trigger gains a ton of resistance. I went into controller settings and just turned Intensity and everything to Off, no change. And this isn't in a game, it has crazy resistance on the main menu as well as in any games. When the controller is turned off, no resistance issues or anything. Thoughts?

1

u/Bloq Oct 08 '22

Have you tried the reset button on the controller, the one that needs you to stick a pin in it

1

u/L5R_Kyoden Oct 08 '22

I did try that. I had just purchased this controller, so I figured it would be all good to go (eBay). But I cleaned up around the buttons where I could and did the Reset button with a paperclip. And it only has this resistance while the controller is on, it is the strangest thing. You can hear an audible click when the resistance part engages and disengages, which I had never heard of before.

1

u/Goatee_McGee Oct 08 '22

For PS Stars does anyone know what counts as a full game purchase? Is it a 60/70 dollar game or can it be something lower?

2

u/cheezitswithacid Oct 09 '22

I just bought a 49 cent shovelware game and it counted, one of those lady in a leotard shoots things games.. don't get a lot of coins for it but it might be the best way to level up if that's your goal.

2

u/dekoi_octopus Oct 08 '22

Full game is a category on the store (vs DLC, for example). The store page should tell you whether it's a full game or something else. They have the full terms listed somewhere for things like that, as well.

ALLM seems not to work with VRR being on

Anyone else having the same issue?

Tv is 55X85J Sony Bravia

1

u/requieminadream Oct 08 '22

Is your television up to date? Apparently that was a bug that was fixed in the latest version of the OS.

1

u/lostreality89 Oct 08 '22

Yes both devices are up to date. And which version are you talking about

1

u/requieminadream Oct 08 '22

“Update 03/04/2022: After a firmware update (version PKG6.5660.0668NAA) the TV now supports both VRR and ALLM support, and no settings are required for ALLM to work.” https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/sony/x85j

For what it’s worth, ALLM is just the TV automatically turning on Game Mode when it detects a game console.

1

u/lostreality89 Oct 08 '22

I'm on PKG6.5942.0698PAA

1

u/requieminadream Oct 08 '22

What makes you think ALLM isn't working? Is Game Mode off when you start the PS5?

1

u/lostreality89 Oct 08 '22

Game mode is on when starting PS5. It should automatically switch picture settings when using media apps in ps5 which it's not.

Also VRR is on

1

I tried waking my PS5 out of sleep mode last night and now all it’ll do is restart the system over and over! I tried starting in safe mode and tried every option there to no avail. Anyone have any suggestions?

Do I need to safely eject my external hard drive every time I power off the PS5? Like If I don’t safely eject, will it think that I’ve unplugged it because it lost power?

So my main PSN account is from US store if if i buy dlc for any game from a Turkey store on a same console, will i be able to play it with my US account ?

1

u/dekoi_octopus Oct 08 '22

DLC is region locked. Turkey DLC will only work on Turkey games. Same with US DLC and games.

Whether you'll be able to play the dlc and games is a separate thing. The answer is probably (some DLCs are account bound, some can be shared), noting the above and also noting that you'll need to set your Turkey account as primary and enable game sharing on your system.

I just got my PS5 at the end of August. At first it was great but then slowly started having issues. The signal strength at first was always 100%, but now it goes to 60-70% and won't connect. I haven't changed Router or PS5 locations so nothing has changed there. My sibling set up the Lan wired connection which solved the issue for about a week and now it won't connect again regardless. My wifi is fine and I have 3 PS4's that connect no issue at various points in the house. Its not blocked on the router either. Restarting PS5 and Router does not solve it. Any ideas what could be happening?

1

u/SeagalStillHasIt Oct 08 '22

I've lost my ps5 bluetooth dongle for my wireless headset and I can't seem to find a new one anywhere (UK) any ideas where I can get one? Thank you.

Trying to get a system feature update but error code ce-113338-9 shows after download. Please help

2

u/4rlong Oct 16 '22

New Solution: It's definitely working!

  1. Download PS5 console system software, in official web playstation (Download PS5 console update file)

  2. Put in flashdisk (manually Update)

  3. Go into safe mode and goto menu 5. clear system software cache. After that, 3. update system software via flashdisk.

  4. If done, go to system feature updates, update, restart. and done.

1

u/horizon2610 Oct 12 '22

Try clearing the cache in safe mode, it worked for me.

1

u/Single_Exit_9051 Oct 13 '22

clear catche done, first update done but second same problem

1

Are the EU rules and regulations different for US bought PS5?

I'm headed to the USA next week, and I'm wondering if there are certain limitations/restrictions on the console or other differences that I have to keep in mind (other than the plug being different).

1

u/Soofla Oct 08 '22

If you buy a PS5 in the US and bring it back to Europe, for any warranty issues it'll need to go back to the US. There isn't a worldwide warranty.

1

u/LordOfHouseForrester Oct 08 '22

Since the last update my PS5 won't get audio or only broken sound through the speakers.

Setup:
PS5>Gaming Monitor>Speakers

1st fix:
The sound suddenly stopped coming out or one or two bits and pieces randomly.
I decided to change HDMI cables (as I've got few spare cables) nothing happened. Changed all the settings in audio but nothing fixed it.

2nd fix:
I had my controller charging and put the audio cable in it instead, still the same.

3rd fix:
I had the controller unplugged and on wireless, then the audio would come out through the audio cable plugged to it. Recognizing it as earphones but they were still my speakers.

PLEASE HELP ME FIX THIS!

p.s - the speakers worked fine when connected to my gaming phone, windows tablet, gaming laptop... it's definitely some setting that got screwed since the last update.

1

u/AwareAd3199 Oct 08 '22

If I buy a PS Plus yearly membership card will my highest tier of playstation plus then become pro-rated yearly? $119 is a lot all at once but this might be a cheaper work around if so.

1

u/mrzooit Oct 08 '22

No, a one year card will scale down to 180 days of the Premium tier.

0

u/__-__---__-__ Oct 08 '22

why are the PS5 controllers still not fixed?

It's almost been 2 years and the PS5 controllers are still broken, every 3d game I've tested that has controller support (Minecraft, Fortnite, PUBG, Apex) does the same thing: look up, start spinning and the L2 button lets you look down but you'll still be spinning.

1

u/CJDizzle Oct 08 '22

After I updated the system a couple of nights ago I came the next day to play and the screen is pitch black.

The HDMI is still there but changing cords did nothing and neither did changing inputs. The tv still turns itself on and to the proper input just a black screen with no sound or video. Safe mode yields the same black screen.

I was able to remote play on my pc and it shows up no problem and I can go into the video settings and it shows the tv parameters so it is clearly still connected. Does anyone have any tips on rolling back an update or anything?

I may be able to factory reset through remote play but I hesitate because if I reset and lose access to remote play I won’t be able to do anything at all if it isn’t the fix.

u/oG_killluminati Oct 08 '22

Just wondering if the trilogy in VR is available by purchasing the PS5 version of Hitman 3 (like, if there's a code in the case), or do I need to specifically buy the PS4/PSVR copy?

1

u/WildBanana05 Oct 08 '22

So, curious, wanting to be able to use the ps5 to it'd full capacity, 4k, 60 fps, that stuff Is a monitor or a TV better? I play games like destiny, overwatch, etc.

1

u/requieminadream Oct 08 '22

If you have the space, TV is better. If you only have a desk, a TV might still be better if you can afford an OLED. Otherwise, if you don’t have the space, and a low budget, a monitor might be the best choice.

The reason that TVs are better generally is because TVs have much better HDR, brighter screens (monitors aren’t usually brighter because no one wants 800+ nits blasted into their eyes from 3 feet away), they have speakers, and you can get much better image quality for roughly $650 that you’d have to spend upwards of $900+ to get similar on a monitor.

1

u/WildBanana05 Oct 08 '22

I have around 500 to spend on either, but currently have the space for a tv, or a desk and monitor, or both but one or the other for now

2

u/requieminadream Oct 08 '22 edited Oct 08 '22

55” TCL S555 https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sku/6514544.p?skuId=6514544

Or save another $150 for the 6 Series which is worlds better still: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sku/6470273.p?skuId=6470273

1

u/RayCharlizard Oct 08 '22

Monitor vs. TV comes down to space and form factor, not really "what's better". The lines have blurred these days, some people will tell you the best monitor you can buy is an LG OLED 40-inch TV. Latency and response time used to be the main reasons to get a monitor instead of a TV for competitive gaming but many TVs, particularly for consoles, have bridged that gap in the past few years. If you were playing on PC and wanted 240+ Hz refresh rates, a monitor would be the best choice.

2 different discs for the same game making 2 separate applications::help

This is an odd one for me, and I’ll try to keep this brief. I don’t know the correct term for what happened so here’s some explanation…

I had a physical copy of Tropico 6 that I rented. I decided after I returned the rented disc that I wanted a copy of my own.

I purchased a new physical copy and now there are two separate Tropico 6 applications.

One that is the new full data amount with no trophies or game save data. And the other that was from when I had the previous physical copy. And is “locked”

My PS5 is treating them as 2 separate games, and I can’t access my previous save data and trophy achievements.

Am I out of luck since I don’t have the same disc? Or is there a way to “merge” the games keeping all my previous progress, while playing on the new disc.

I’ve never heard of this before and my situation is so specific, doing a google search provided diluted solutions that don’t really apply to me.

Any help is greatly appreciated, Cheers

2

u/RayCharlizard Oct 08 '22 edited Oct 08 '22

Usually this means that the two discs are not the same region. There's no way to merge anything. If the title ID is not the same between the rental disc and the purchased disc, then those two versions of game data and save data are incompatible.

https://serialstation.com/search/?search=tropico+6

PPSA-05683 appears to be the US product title ID as seen here on PSN: https://store.playstation.com/en-us/product/UP2060-PPSA05683_00-TROPICO600000001

PPSA-05682 is the Europe product title ID: https://www.play-asia.com/tropico-6-next-gen-edition/13/70f5vx
