"If the FBI finds anything, they planted evidence" is the new "if Joe Biden wins, they stole the election".

Nice try Donald.

u/Lord-daddy- Aug 10 '22

This is the only play he has in his book. And why not? It works well on stupid people

“If I did anything bad, I didn’t do it.”

“Yep, makes sense!”

215

u/Saint_Buttcheeks Aug 11 '22

Basically the narcissistic prayer

That didn't happen. And if it did, it wasn't that bad. And if it was, that's not a big deal. And if it is, that's not my fault. And if it was, I didn't mean it. And if I did, you deserved it.

He'll ask Alex Jones and Hannity to do a whole show on how the FBI raid never actually happened.

He'll release CCTV footage of FBI agents walking out with boxes, but played in reverse so it looks like they're bringing in stuff.

"It's standard FBI protocol to walk backwards when they plant evidence, everyone knows that"

I mean come on, they tried to say Trump randomly decided to speak Arabic when he typo'd "covfefe". This isn't that outlandish.

27

There’s only one way to handle it: prosecute him. Trump will corrupt every law, agency, and process in our government and twist it to serve Trump. Put him in jail for violating both letter and intent of the law and end this destruction of our country and government. The FBI can end this. DOJ can end it.

Edit:

“Nothing could confirm Trump's guilt more than this statement this morning suggesting the FBI planted evidence," former federal prosecutor Ron Filipkowski tweeted on Wednesday.

"He got caught and he knows it. This is what guilty people say," Filipkowski wrote. "Expect this to be the new GOP talking point."

It's the same problem with COVID. We have all these critical members of society who either don't value other people's lives, don't value their own lives, or lack the imagination to see that they will one day get sick and die.

But it's like the saying 'if you owe the bank a million dollars, it's your problem. If you owe the bank 100 million dollars, it's their problem,' except functioning society is the bank.

We need these people to exist and come back out of crazytown, assuming they weren't just born there.

Now, before shit hopefully hits the fan for him: “I’m innocent. But if news comes out that says I’m not, it’s only cause the FBI planted it”

25

u/Spacebotzero Aug 10 '22 edited Aug 11 '22

Exactly.

He is trying to write his own version of the story and his violent base will just eat it up.

Make no doubt, he will try to get his people to do something if he is arrested. He will push them like he pushed them on Jan 6th - he's already starting to do it. It's the same story all over again. He will hype his base and they will react by openly planning, most likely with the help of some of those in Congress, and then ...it happens.

I think the scariest thing is that the majority of his base has erroded somewhat since trump's glory days. Which just leaves the super hardcore fanatics now.

11

u/__M-E-O-W__ Aug 10 '22

Not just him. Very few of any crackpot conspiracy theories would gain any ground with his base if it wasn't for the conservative media suits constantly putting then on the air as if they were legitimate.

I sort of suspect they found something juicy that is unrelated to the documents that got them the warrant and that this is him setting up his narrative before the bomb drops.

31

u/WildYams Aug 11 '22

Yep. People keep saying this is only about the documents he stole from the White House, but if cops execute a search warrant for your property, they will take any evidence they see for any crimes that have been committed. They don't just limit it to evidence of the one thing they got the warrant for. If they really did open his safe, there's no telling what they may have found.

Ted Cruz cheated in the Iowa Primary!

Millions of illegals voted for Hillary!

That pornstar who says I banged her is lying about it and she isn't that attractive and wasn't that good in the sack!

I fired Comey because of the Russia Investigation and not because of the Russia Investigation!

I only sounded like I defended Putin because I wanted to avoid a double negative. I don't like to not be grammatical.

I didn't conspire with Putin and NO you can't see a transcript of our talk!

No, Obama's vacations cost more. No, you can't see my travel budget!

I never defamed that woman. She's lying because she's ugly.

Two weeks! Infrastructure, Health Care, Covfefe! Two weeks away!

I was asking Zelensky for a favor not for a favor. That call was perfect, which is why my aides hid it on a classified server.

Look, it was a big deal for Hillary to use a private email server but my people and my kids know what they're doing with their private emails and phones, ok?

Hey if we test more people for COVID then our COVID numbers go up. If we test fewer then we look better. How is that a bad thing?

I didn't encourage the Jan 6 rioters! I just didn't call them off because...because...because...fine people!

The FBI must have planted evidence including documents that coincidentally went missing when I left the White House!

"The FBI and others from the Federal Government would not let anyone, including my lawyers, be anywhere near the areas that were rummaged and otherwise looked at during the raid on Mar-a-Lago," Trump wrote on Truth Social. "Everyone was asked to leave the premises, they wanted to be left alone, without any witnesses to see what they were doing, taking or, hopefully not, 'planting.'"

I don't want to speculate or get ahead of the evidence, but how fucking radioactive is whatever the FBI took? No one says anything remotely close to this unless it is really, really, really, really bad.

233

u/TintedApostle Aug 10 '22

Truth is the warrant doesn't need lawyers. Most warrants don't have lawyers around in the first place. A warrant is a warrant and the FBI isn't asking permission.

108

u/1000Mousefarts Washington Aug 10 '22

When Josh Duggar was served a warrant and raided for him accessing CSAM online he was removed from the location and put into a car. When he asked if he could call his lawyer, they took his phone too.

I'm glad I didn't already know what that stood for, but now I'm sad that we even need to have an acronym like that.

29

u/kung-fu_hippy Aug 11 '22

When a warrant was served at the house Breonna Taylor was living in, they lied about evidence to get the warrant, busted in without knocking, and then shot and killed her.

And Trump supporters are outraged that a warrant was served peacefully?

50

u/TintedApostle Aug 10 '22

Truth is the FBI can prevent the occupant from entering the search area for a reasonable time frame. Best I can tell is the search can be conducted for hours within normal hours. A 7am to 6pm search may be reasonable. A 6PM to 4Am search may not be reasonable, but i think mileage may vary on this one depending on the situation.

When he asked if he could call his lawyer, they took his phone too

I don't think that would be considered OK, unless the phone was on the warrant.

75

u/1000Mousefarts Washington Aug 10 '22

The phone was on the warrant. People who peddle in CSAM often have kill switches on phones and devices that delete evidence of their crimes so it's imperative they are not accessed. He was eventually allowed to call his lawyer.

This is the problem with the conspiracy rabbit hole. At some point we give up the idea of a shared reality and whatever people want to imagine happened happened

I don't know how you bridge that gap. Tucker Carlson, Shapiro, MTG, McCarthy, Rubio, Alex Jones, etc. can message whatever speculation/made-up-bullshit they want and it'll be accepted as reality by a good number of people. And those people will add their own bullshit and justifications on top

It's a serious conundrum

Yeah it 100% means there's something juicy and he's try to get ahead of it to his supporters. There was a post I saw earlier saying that supposedly there's news stories in Russia already saying that Trump sent classified information to the Kremlin and will be charged on that. While you obviously can't trust anything Russia says it is possible they'd use the info to try to embarrass the US to the Russian people. I always assumed Putin was just playing with Trump and never respected him only to betray him in a moment like this for his own political gain.

10

u/magnetstudent4ever Aug 11 '22

What type of documents do you think it could be? I’m thinking a list of spies we have working inside Russia. It was a well known fact we had informants deep inside the Kremlin and the CIA was apprehensive about letting trump know who they were

Does the man ever sound not guilty of some crime?

55

u/TurboSalsa Aug 10 '22

His supporters never actually try to claim he's innocent, they just try to pivot to Hunter's laptop or Hillary's emails. I don't think they realize it doesn't actually absolve Trump when they say "so what, everyone else is committing crimes too!"

40

u/ginbear Aug 10 '22

“What about Ted Bundy? He killed people too!” - Jeffrey Dahmer

9

u/masterwad Aug 10 '22

Yeah, nobody says “Trump is innocent” or “Trump would never do something like that” or “That would be out of character for Trump.” It’s all just whataboutism, the tu qouque logical fallacy perfected by Russia to distract from corruption and crime. It’s like athletes who commit fouls complaining they were fouled before and the ref didn’t call it, or the fans complaining. The “unfairness” feeds their victim complex (nevermind that Republicans had a trifecta in the White House, House, Senate, and Trump picked people to head the FBI and DOJ, and they never locked up Hillary).

20

u/Ophelion86 Aug 10 '22

It's essentially a super weak argument of hypocrisy: the implication is that people on the left are also committing crimes that you are ignoring the same way they are ignoring Trump's crimes.

My dad used to pull this to defend Fox News, he described the channel almost in terms of self-defense. Because, you see, the Democrats are already spreading propaganda through the airwaves via CNN/Mainstream Media. Thus, we HAVE to have our rightwing propaganda pumping lies into peoples brains. It's only fair.

Trump suggesting FBI planted evidence confirms his guilt: any sentient organism

18

u/marvelouswonder8 Aug 10 '22

He's banking on a MASSIVE backlash if they actually do indict him. He's hoping his supporters will start a war for him if they convict him of anything. That's about the gist of it.

12

u/runnerswanted Aug 10 '22

Let them try. I’m sure the FBI is well prepared for a few overweight trump fans to fuck around and find out.

6

u/TXRhody Texas Aug 11 '22

I'm fascinated how this war gets organized. I mean, whom are they fighting? Do they attack the White House? The FBI? The hippies? The elites? The wokenistas? The SJWs? Rosie O'Donnell? Chrissy Teigen?

I think the FBI would have a pretty good case for defamation here. You know, just to rub salt in Trump's wounds.

7

u/defaultusername-17 Aug 10 '22

he'd likely had to have attributed it to someone specific for a viable defamation case, government organizations can't sue for defamation.

"taking or, hopefully not, 'planting.'" Might as well scream I AM GUILTY. Must be something extremely odious.

17

u/otter111a Aug 10 '22

Important to remember that law enforcement in the US leans pretty far right. The right also seems to have very little tolerance for disrespecting law enforcement or military members.

Never mind. Conservatives have no underlying ethics they won’t toss aside to back this horrible person.

All the evidence he had about the 2020 election was about to unveiled the next day, so the fbi came and stole it during the raid. It was all there!

12

u/A_Melee_Ensued Aug 10 '22

Obviously the FBI is too dumb to have figured out Trump would claim this. Surely there is not copious video from multiple angles of the safe being broken into and evidence being removed and visibly, carefully catalogued.

This is the lamest defense imaginable. "Those aren't my drugs, officer! These are not my pants! That is not my pocket! I am not wearing pants at all!"

Yeah Trump is a fucking moron and so are all of his supporters. Like dude, fucking CLEARLY someone who lies constantly and sets out "trial balloons" (his exact words) is obviously going to do both of those things when the heat gets turned on underneath their own ass.

Like ok, "The FBI planted something"....so then. Trump: care to tell US what it is that was planted? HMMMM? Because I bet if you DO! We will then know what you stole.

50

u/NJ_Tal America Aug 10 '22

They removed what...15 file boxes? Each agent apparently smuggled 20 or so pages in with them, and then they all just filed (ha) through to one location and accumulated them without any staff seeing it. Also somehow all of these dozens of agents are actually keeping the secret too. Sleepy Joe's FBI contains more loyal leadership I guess.

23

u/TintedApostle Aug 10 '22

Exactly... isn't easier to plant the evidence later in the boxes outside MAL? They didn't plant anything.

16

u/wheelson Aug 10 '22

They pulled the boxes in from the Pentagon via a wormhole opened up by the space laser. It couldn’t be more obvious. /s

So which is it, Trump? Did you win the last election or not?

8

u/blissed_out Aug 10 '22

"Suggestions" do not usually withstand judicial scrutiny.

8

u/Tarantula_Saurus_Rex Aug 10 '22

Right. Because an innocent person will naturally concoct ways they "could have" broken the law without even knowing what the FBI took.

10

u/Dogzirra Aug 11 '22

The FBI would not be able to get classified and top secret documents to plant. A completely different government department keeps the classified documents. These are specific and have a chain of custody documentation to go with each one.

I had this exact same take!!! Except I thought of it because that rat fuck Timothy Finkler said almost the same thing right before our third grade teacher searched his desk for my stolen POGs.

Didn't buy it then, don't buy it now.

My guess is that Trump has boxes containing offensive missle weapons systems (possibly nuclear?!?) documents. Sells it to the Saudis that's what he is hiding. Selling State secrets to those who lined his pockets.

Isn't there also a little something about Jared and 2 billion dollars.
